Gorien see's the rat dive off into the water and acts quickly to stow his dagger and grab his hand crossbow off the ground, he loads it and lets loose a shot at the glowing mass in the water trying not to hit his friend.

The crossbow bolt skewered the rat before it hit the water. It punched clean through the animal, and as the body fell limp towards the sewage once more, it twisted in mid-air, folding in on itself in a strange and unnatural fashion.
When the body hit the water, it was no longer a rat, or a rat-man, but just... a man. Wild-eyed and confused, dressed in tattered mercenary leathers with his sword sheathed. He spluttered as he hit the water and thrashed around, crying out as he fell.
"For the love of the Gods! What is this? Help me!"

As the last crossbow bolt pierces threw the beast, a human scream comes instead. Right in front of Nolul big nose, he saw a rat monster transform into a human. He was shocked by the happening, maintaining that state until he hears the men call for help.
Rapidly he turned towards his own backpack, and from it, he got some rope. – “Here, both of you catch, me and Gorian will get you out of the water.” – said as he threw the rope towards them.

Thedithas pulls the man close to him, looping an arm behind his back as the rope comes toward them. He wraps the loose end around his forearm a few times and yanks on it to test the rope's integrity, and with a nod he braces the man against him to haul them both up on the ledge.

Thedithas is easily able to haul the man back up and out of the 'water'. He looks dishevelled, and fairly disgusted with himself as he looks down at his sewer-waterlogged clothing.
"Disgusting." He mutters, "What in the name of the Gods am I doing down--"
Before he could carry on with that vein of questioning, however, the sewer shook with an unearthly, burbling shriek.
The terrifying noise reverberated through the stone walls, and it might well occur to the adventurers then and there that the rat-man had been stealthy and quiet; hard to imagine drunken sailors hearing him through feet of stone and brick.
That noise, though? That would probably carry...
(Perception checks if you want to try and pinpoint the direction of the echoey noise - if you have any knowledge skills you think appropriate to try and identify you can give them a roll too)

With the help of Gorian, Nolul helped both of them get out of the water. As two soaked bodies left the water, a terrifying noise came echoing threw the walls.

The group were - as one - able to identify that the noise was coming from the water itself, and so none of them were taken unawares when the filthy sewer dregs burst upwards. The creature was terrifying, twelve foot long and sinuously serpentine, with flailing tentacles and a foul, greenish-yellow, rubbery skin texture. Nolul knew at once that this was no natural beast - it must be some bizarre abomination! Thedithas could not explain it - some horrifying monster, though, to be sure. Gorien, however, had a sense of it from the moment that disturbing wail had filled the space. There were rumours of a monster known as a Carrion Crawler; a foul beast that feeds on the dead, and sometimes the living as well. It was a large example of the species, supposedly the creation of mad wizards or perhaps drawn from the Outer Realms of insanity and terror. And from the looks of it, it was hungry. As the sound grew closer, Nolul could hear it coming from below the water, as the noise started increasing an abomination of a monster could be seen emerging, a giant crawling insect-like creature was right in front of the 4 of us.
“Get ready, this thing isn’t a product of nature” – shouted Nolul, as he readied is quarterstaff.

"If it possesses any wisdom," Thedithas intones solemnly, "then I shall bring to it the fear of the Sun." He wipes his hands off on a piece of scrap cloth that at least looks dry, then flexes them as they begin to glow with the divine light of Lathander.

Thedithas' eyes light up to match the glow in his palms as he opens his inner conduit to Lathander's power. With the swiftness of long years of practice, his mantra snaps his ki into place and divine energy courses through him, manifesting as three beams of brilliant light streaking from his hands into the abomination.
