We utilise the version of the Ranger published in Unearthed Arcana. Available here.
We also allow tortles and warforged as playable races.
If the material you are using to create your character is in those books you should be fine. Please note that you may need to alter some details to fit the Forgotten Realms setting - however, planar travel is always a thing as a last resort.
Please note that we do not allow characters of evil alignment.
Each player is able to apply for a level 3 character and a level 1 character. You may have any number of characters, with the restriction that you can only have one level 1 character at a time and you must wait two weeks between applications.
