History:
Umbrae is a recent arrival to Waterdeep. Perhaps she would stand out in a less diverse or populated area, but among the throngs of the city, she seems to be just one more arcanist gravitating toward the area in search of education and adventure. Those thinking so wouldn’t be entirely wrong, but there is much more to her story than that.
What she doesn’t share with anyone is that she was the product of an experiment by a hag, who wanted to see what would come of creating a being with both divine essence and that from the Shadowfell. Isolated and overworked, Umbrae was something of a testing ground and apprentice, doing whatever she was told or facing creative punishments from the sadistic hag. Eventually, she learned that the hag was disappointed in her progress and planned to kill her before starting over; a process which had been repeated multiple times with different variables/combinations.
Not about to become the next victim, Umbrae waited for a drop in the hag’s guard and then fled, into the depths of the woods. She wandered for some time, hiding and stealing as necessary, before reaching some old elven ruins which seemed decent shelter from a raging storm. Within, she discovered it was less empty than she’d thought. A baelnorn, introducing himself as Immeral Sylvaranth, took an interest in the unkempt sorcerer. She explained her plight, and he offered a deal; if she would serve him as a warlock, he would deal with her hag problem. His terms of service: travel to Waterdeep and observe its goings-on. Not in a position to refuse, she accepted and was sent forth.
Personality: Umbrae is skittish by nature, and evasive about personal questions, not certain who to trust. Practically the only time she shows any confidence is during combat and it usually fades soon after, as she’s worried people will pry into the origins of her strange abilities. Thanks to her extremely secluded upbringing, she knows very little about the world at large and tends to show herself an outsider by asking about things which ought to be obvious to anyone in normal society.

Class
Sorcerer:
Eyes of the Dark
You have darkvision out to 120 ft. [3rd] You learn the darkness spell and can cast it with a spell slot or by spending 2 sorcery points (you can see through the darkness created by the spell if cast with sorcery points).
Strength of the Grave
When damage (that isn't radiant or from a critical hit) reduces you to 0 HP, you can make a CHA saving throw (DC 5 + the damage taken). On a success, you instead drop to 1 HP (and can't use this feature again until you finish a long rest).
Warlock:
Among the Dead
You learn the spare the dying cantrip, which counts as a warlock cantrip for you. You also have advantage on saving throws against any disease. If an undead targets you directly with an attack or spell, that creature must make a WIS saving throw (DC 13). On failure, they must choose a new target or waste the attack or spell. On success or if you target the creature with an attack or spell, the creature is immune to this effect for 24 hours.
Eldritch Invocations
You learn fragments of forbidden knowledge that imbue you with an abiding magical ability.
Agonizing Blast (When you cast eldritch blast, add Charisma modifier to the damage it deals on a hit.)
Book of Ancient Secrets (You can now learn and cast ritual spells from any class's spell list in your Book of Shadows. (starting rituals: Alarm, Detect Magic))
Pact Boon: Your otherworldly patron bestows a gift upon you for your loyal service.
Pact of the Tome Your patron gives you a grimoire called a Book of Shadows that grants you additional cantrips that don't count against your number of cantrips known. If you lose the book, you can perform a 1-hour ceremony to receive a replacement during a short or long rest. (Guidance, Sacred Flame, Message)
Spells:
(Cantrip) Eldritch Blast, Guidance, Light, Mage Hand, Mending, Message, Prestidigitation, Sacred Flame, Spare the Dying, Sword Burst, Toll the Dead
(Level 1) Armor of Agathys, Hex, Mage Armor, Shield/as ritual: Alarm, Detect Magic, Identify, Comprehend Languages, Purify Food and Drink, Unseen Servant
(Level 2) Invisibility, Misty Step, Mirror Image/as ritual: Augury
Skills Arcana +5, Deception +7, Perception +3, Stealth +4
Proficiencies & Languages Light armor, simple weapons, Common, Celestial, Infernal, Sylvan
Background Haunted One
Feature: Heart of Darkness
Those who look into your eyes can see that you have faced unimaginable horror and that you are no stranger to darkness. Though they might fear you, commoners will extend you every courtesy and do their utmost to help you. Unless you have shown yourself to be a danger to them, they will even take up arms to fight alongside you, should you find yourself facing an enemy alone.
Feats n/a
Gear 92 gp, Backpack, blanket, crystal (arcane focus), mess kit, rations (10 day), rope (hempen), tinderbox, waterskin

If her gp amount suffices, I would like to put it toward elven chain or (second choice) glamoured studded leather. Her patron would want to keep her well-protected.
