History: Nuada Ua Ghrian was born many years ago to a not so special family in Hartsvale, in the north of the realm. The land was cold and harsh, not the easiest of places to grow up. His childhood was uneventful until a stranger came by and offered his parents gold for him. He heard words of a promise to make him an apprentice so that his family would not need to have him as a burden in the icy land.
Nuada went with the man, who he learned was a Monster Hunter. His training began shortly after he left home. While he did not battle any monsters, he had lessons in fighting and training his body. Adjusting to the cold and the harshness of a wild life. This training continued until he was fourteen, when his master let him go on a proper hunt for the first time. Nuada did well and his master took him on a journey to his order’s lodge, there he would be inducted as one of their applicants.
The Order of Amarok was by no means a large group, but it was close knit. Nuada was among the new arrivals of applicants. There his master left him to compete with the others to earn a place in among the order of hunters.
It was not easy, but eventually Nuada proved himself a capable hunter and was one of three applicants accepted into the order. That was when he underwent the ritual of blood magic. He survived, and came out changed. The Order of Amarok welcomed him as a brother, and then began his career as a monster hunter with the organization.
The good days with the group were not to last. A tenant of the Order was to not take part in the conflicts of mortals, to focus on monsters to protect civilization. Nuada was not one who could simply look away from injustice and abuse of power. So, he broke the code. He stood up to a minor noble and injured them. For this simple action he was banished from the Order and turned into a vagabond, traveling the lands finding work where he could.
It was during this period that he happened upon a sentient creature that had run into trouble. Going by the name of Lucky, the creature paid for his help to fend off a gang. Nuada took the gold and never looked back. Thus began their partnership. Friendship for gold. Not a bad deal.
Staying true to his contract he has come to the city of Waterdeep, ready to put his skills to use and earn a living.
Personality: A good man at heart, Nuada has his own sense of right and wrong, normally going at odds with government organizations. While he believes strength and power are needed, he does not belittle those that don’t have it, rather he sees it as his job to protect those weaker than himself. Those that abuse their powers to force others into submission are his enemies, though he contradicts that when he treats his foes in the same manner.
He is not that great of a thinker, preferring to trust his instincts to get him ahead. What good are the best of puzzles when a little applied magic or scroll can blow open a path? He is also more of a doer than a planner. He does not think about possible actions, simply doing what he believes to be is right, regardless if that sense of right matches with anyone.
Another way to describe him is arbitrary. There are times when he might feel like helping someone, and perhaps because of something they said he would toss them to the wolves. Though he will normally make sure they are not really hurt, he is not that evil. He also enjoys testing himself against opponents. If that means a fist fight against a gnoll or two, that is in good spirits, no need to draw weapons. That could also mean a drinking contest to see who picks up the tab for an evening at the tavern.
