Appearance: Doran Andraste stands at a relatively normal height, though taller than the average human, thanks to his inherited traits. Of his features, the ones that stick out the most are his pointed ears. They are not as pointed as the ears of true Elves, but his still stand out when among either Humans or Elves. This is why he has taken to keeping his ears covered by his hair. Normally he keeps his hair long enough to cover them, though he does have it pulled back. He is physically fit from years of training and working in the fields.
Donned over his common clothing is normally a suit of chain mail with a tabbard over-top, emblazoned with the emblem of the Order of the Aster. The chain mail is colored to be like gold, though it is only for aesthetics. The tabbard is a dark red color with a golden sun radiating in the middle. On his left hip, Doran carries a long sword. Opposite it sits a dagger. Slung onto his arm is a shield that carries the same emblem of his Order. Sometimes, he carries a quiver on the back of his belt for use with his bow.
History: Doran was born several years ago, in a temple of Lathander when he took his vows to serve the order. Before that, he was known by another name, Casval Andraste, a common villager that grew up with his family outside Waterdeep. There was nothing truly outstanding about his life growing up, at least not until his appearance started to change. He was of fairer skin and had brighter hair than the other children. Then came his ears. They were differences that he could never hid or explain. He learned why from his mother, and that she had a passing relationship with an Elf,and thus he was born. When she admitted this, his father was not pleased. But not wanting to cause any problems, their lives continued.
Eventually, as he grew up, Casval's father began to take out agression on him and eventually others. This led to the moment that set Casval onto his path. One night, during his father's outburst, he fought back and killed him. Not wanting to be arrested for a crime, he ran to Waterdeep and searched for a temple that he recognized. Monks had been to his village before, representing Lathander's church. And there, Casval hoped to be kept hidden. The Church took him in, gave him a new name, and then put him to work.
As Doran, he did menial tasks until one day he met one of the roaming Paladins, Fintan. Upon request, Fintan began to teach him the basics of combat and weapon usage. And from there, Doran's life began to change. He saw what kind of powers he could have in the world, and took an oath of devotion and was inducted into the Order of the Aster. After an initial training period he became a full member of the organization. After serving as a guard at a holy site in the city, he has recently been given a new task, to roam the lands and do what he can to serve the people of the world. To be a beacon of light to an encroaching darkness in the world.
