Appearance:
Semira stands at the tall end of average, not particularly muscled but in well enough shape. When she's not actively trying to hide it beneath make-up the skin around her eyes is scaled and a faded green, betraying her heritage and framing her yellow snake eyes. Her skin has a slight tan to it in a bit of contrast to the blond hair often left to hang freely and only bound in braids on special occasions. Her clothes tend towards colorful, green, reds and yellows, especially her treasured finer clothes used for performances. Her everyday clothes are a little worn, colors dulled from use and the dust of roads traveled.
History:
Semira (then called Ss'mirr) originally hails from the Jungles of Chult. Raised among her people she very early one felt like she didn't belong. Considered less important or blessed than the more monstrous members of their society she was ostracized and jumped at the chance to be trained as a diplomat to humans and other races. Even though that mostly meant spying, infiltration and subterfuge she was exposed to a culture vastly different from her own. Taught to hate them for their weaknesses she latched on to what her teachers considered a 'necessity' to infiltrating human higher society and she found that she enjoyed the scraps of art, poetry and music she was allowed to study. More importantly, those things seemed to stir something inside of her. A longing she had no explanation for. Quietly she studied what she could and secretly tried to make crude instruments to play.
It was only a matter of time until she was found out and accused of one of the worst crimes conceivable. Emotions and their indulgence. She knew her life was forfeit. She'd be killed or subjected to the rituals used by her people to enslave 'lesser' species and made to fall in line. And her desperation drew the attention of something whispering in the dark. Whispering of power and escape, an offer of enough strength to flee. And with nowhere else to turn she accepted the pact. To let her channel presence and glamour, let it imbue her with cunning and wit. She was doomed anyway and this way she'd at least have a chance to discover the magic that she knew lay in the beauty of music and song.
And so she came to escape the jungle-city of her people and reached human lands. Here she found those that would encourage her. Mistrust and paranoia too, but among those that were misfits as well she learned how to play an instrument, ply her voice to be melodious instead of hissing and let it well up inside of her until it spilled into the world around her. And there was still so much of it she'd never seen out there. So when she had enough money saved up she booked passage on a ship that would carry her far away across the sea, towards the city called Waterdeep...
Personality:
Semira almost always wears a smile on her face and she strives to be optimistic and cheerful. She's determined to spite her heritage and prove it to the world while she's at it. Her own emotions are muted, but music helps her stir them and she almost always has a whistle on her lips. But more than anything she wants to spark joy in others, so she can bask in the warmth of other peoples' smiles. She does try a little too hard at times, but she means well and is genuinely looking to make friends with almost everyone.
Personality Traits: I want to rediscover my emotions and experience life to the fullest. Cold blood is still warmed by the sun.
Ideals: Rules are easily abused by those seeking to perpetuate evil.
Bonds: One day I will root out the evil and corruption in the heart of my people.
