[Sorry guys, I should be back to my normal schedule now.]
Adrenaline flowed to Aronin's extremities as he anticipated the arrival of a goblin. The suspense quickened its production, and he lay in wait like a cat ready to pounce. It is safe to say he was more than slightly startled when Avren returned from the dense foliage. It took him half a second to ready himself for an ambush, but another half second to realize Avren wasn't a wandering goblin scout. "Well that could have turned ugly!" He took the time for his heart rate to drop to a more normal normal level while Avren explained what she found ahead.
He also took the time to pick up the rope, carefully winding it into a loop and preparing to hang it from his belt. While doing this, he closely inspected the rope to gauge its strength but also to observe in an attempt to understand why he felt so partial toward it.
Arcana check (on the rope): uaPbaRkO1d20+5
He hung the rope on his belt, and then looked towards his companions when Avren finished explaining what was ahead of them. "We can't be so hasty, Ace has made it painfully aware that there are scouts around here. I think it would be a good idea to try and reach this cave without notice." He looked to Lykus, and then watched as Ace landed on a nearby branch. "I say we let Avren and Ace lead us to the cave." Aronin unfastened his newly looped rope from this belt, then fastened a knot around his own waist. "I can use Ace's senses to stay alert of what Avren encounters and also note any scouts in the area. However, I won't be able to see or hear for myself. Lykus, will you be able to drag me along?" Aronin waved the other end of the rope towards his Githyanki companion and gestured for him to take it. 1d20+5

Aronin takes a moment to study the rope while Avren is scouting and notices a small silk ribbon sewn into one end with an elvish word embroidered on it. When he speaks the word the rope comes to 'life' and he quickly learns to direct it.
----
When offered the rope Lykus replies,
What? Like a dog?
He chuckles and gives the rope a tug, Aronin stumbles foward and they make clumsy progress. After a couple of falls and collisions with trees, you realise it might be safer to merely pause a moment to look through your familiar at regular intervals than stumble blindly through the forest.
[Aronin, make me a perception check using your hawk's bonus with advantage for being a hawk]

Avren simply rolled her eyes at Lykus' dramatics, responding with a quick 'I returned, didn't I?' before explaining all that she had seen during her scouting ahead. His lack of altruism was not met with any comment, though; she wasn't particularly invested in the others' motivations for this job, as long as those didn't involve screwing it up somehow. At mention of the rope, she cast a wistful glance at her new rapier. It was special, no doubt, but there was very little time to spare, too little to thinking of attuning to it now. Oh, well. Hopefully later, there would be a chance.
She nodded with Aronin's assessment, crossing her arms. "I can do that, though it'll be harder to go unnoticed in heavy armor." She cast a look at Lykus' very fine but also situationally inconvenient ensemble. "That's not to say we can't try it, just be prepared for the fact that they might notice use anyway. But if surprise is lost, we'll just have to act fast."
She then went on ahead, lips twitching a little in amusement at Aronin being tugged along.

You again approach the cave entrance, Lykus holds back near the treeline - not wanting to give up the element of surprise - to let the other's scout, silently, ahead. How would you like to proceed? [Also guys, feel free to preempt a roll that I might ask of you. If I don't need it, I'll just ignore it or ask for a different one. It just helps to keep things moving in this format. For example "I want to jump off the bridge and check the chest for any traps" followed by an athletics and investigation check."]

Avren approached as quietly as she could, trying to stay out of sight. She knew Aronin's familiar would be keeping a lookout as well, but that was no reason to let down her own guard and become sloppy. She kept her new rapier in hand, knowing she might have to use it at any moment and perfectly fine with that. Some wretched goblins weren't going to get in the way of completing her job, not if she had anything at all to say about it. If the element of surprise was on their side, Avren definitely intended to take advantage of it by striking first this time.

The thicket on the eastern side of the stream is impenetrable from the stream so Avren sneaks up through the stream to get a look into the cave.
The stream itself is only two feet deep and slow moving, and is easily waded through. Looking into the cave mouth you see the stream continue on into the darkness before curving away to your right. You can see a chamber on the right of the passage and another on the left further into the cave.
You are being cautious not to have anyone see you from inside the cave and miss a loose rock, which splashes, loudly into the stream.
On the east side of the stream flowing from the cave mouth, a small area in the briar thickets has been hollowed out to form a lookout post or blind. Wooden planks flatten out the briars and provide room for guards to lie hidden and watch the area — including a pair of goblins lurking there right now!
The splash alerted the otherwise, recalcitrant lookouts who stand up in surprise from their makeshift beds and fire their shortbows at you.
[You have half cover (+2AC) from the briar thicket you were attempting to creep along]

It didn't take very long for Aronin to give up getting dragged along by Lykus. He had untied the rope and had it packed neatly into his pack. Instead he paused every now and then to check on things with Ace, unfortunately he didn't spot the pair of goblins hidden in the lookout post. Ace called out into Aronin's head, "Goblins are just around the bend of the thicket, they've fire arrows at Avren!"
The red haired man turned to Lykus, "Avren is in trouble, follow me."
Aronin drew both of his blades, and let the metallic ringing sound float in the air. As he did so before, he began to whistle a mystical tune. He suddenly felt much more alert and agile. Then charged ahead towards Avren and the bend in the thicket. He easily hopped over the stream and rounded the turn to see the pair of goblins. He charged to the first one without any hesitation and channeled magic into the scimitar. It sputtered with a green flame that danced along it's edge. He then swung it upwards in a vertical slash to the goblin's chest.

Avren's blade slices down with frightening precision and leaves a great slash across the injured goblin's chest. With a scream, the goblin falls to the ground dead.
The other little goblin looks around in fear!
