Word on the Street
Waterdeep: Locally Known (Trades Ward), Unknown (Other Wards)
- A relatively recent arrival in the City of Splendors, any recognition Echo has is down to her status as one of the few tabaxi within the city (whether as a curiosity, hated outsider, or simply a freak of nature). She has, however, made her home in the Trades Ward as the resident performer for the Maelstrom's Notch inn, where her nightly singing and dancing performances have gained her some local fame and earned a small group of fans among its frequent patrons.
Almraiven: Infamous (in the Criminal Underworld), Known (Little Birds)
- After escaping from the orphanage Echo, along with her kobold partner Wisp, became successful freelance thieves within Almraiven with some help from the Little Birds. Slight fame became infamy and exile, however, when a job saw them run afoul of a powerful thieves' guild. Forced to flee the city and again calling on the Little Birds for help, Echo left behind her former home, her days as a thief, and the life of her best friend.
Sword Coast: Known (Kinda)
- Once free of Almraiven, Echo changed her direction in life by becoming a freelance treasure hunter, spending some time traveling across the Sword Coast and performing jobs here and there for noble families, collectors, and academics. This has made her a known name among some circles, but not much has set her apart from the other adventurers and grave robbers in the area.

Faces Among the Crowd
Allies / Friends / Lovers
- Wisp: A young kobold and Echo's best friend, the pair met while they lived at the same orphanage in Almraiven. The two quickly grew close, often looking out for each other in the abusive and hostile place, until both escaped together. The two then went on to form a partnership as freelance thieves' in the same city. Eventually, however, they would become enemies of a local thieves' guild and, before they could flee the city, Wisp went missing when her bloodied dragon mask was found with the guild's calling card in their former hideout. Since leaving Almraiven in exile the tabaxi has taken to carrying this same mask as a token of their former friendship.
It's also possible to read into their relationship as having been building toward something more, but fate would never allow Echo to find out.- Agnes and Hader: An elderly human couple who run the Maelstrom's Notch inn. Echo performs for their place most evenings, drawing in crowds and business, and rents a room from them as well, but the two have also taken a fast liking to the girl. The tabaxi often looks for their advice on things, helps out where she can, and Agnes's cooking is about the only thing keeping Echo from eating an entire diet consisting of apples. The pair on their part look out for their mischievous but fun tenant, and Echo suspects there's a lot more to the two strange humans than meets the eye.
Rivals / Enemies
- Lady Anastrianna: A young elven woman who runs a new criminal enterprise primarily out of the Trades Ward, but with an expanding and violent sphere of influence in the city. Frequents the Bowels of the Earth. She's ambitious, dangerous, and ill-tempered, and Echo sought to get herself hired on by the Lady A for a treasure expedition to make a name for herself in the city. In the end, the tabaxi stole her map. Now, she's harried throughout Waterdeep by the elf's goons, especially her huge gnoll bodyguard, and has nearly been killed by the lady once already.
Acquaintances
- "Urchin Bunch": A group of five young homeless kids who live on the streets near the Maelstrom's Notch in the Trades Ward, making their home in the abandoned wreck of an upturned carriage. They include, from oldest to youngest: Damian, a human boy, Rosie, a dwarven girl, Nysa, a dragonborn girl, Syllen, an elven boy, and Lily of the Pond, a tiny tabaxi girl. They met Echo soon after she began living in the inn and took an immediate liking to the older tabaxi. Echo, for her part, hangs out a lot with the kids - playing games, exploring, and trying to pet their coveted pet pigeon Peepers - and looks out for them, having become a pseudo-big sister for all five.
- Susie the Teenage Witch: Echo offered to fetch some fish for the girl, but there was a teeny tiny problem. Fish lived in water! Echo hated water! And she forgot to ask about the passphrase! The tabaxi still has some hard feelings about what was ultimately a horrifying experience for her, but she does feel bad about how things turned out.

- Chasing Shadows - Part I (Solo): Echo is in a bit of a rut. She's a treasure hunter, but...she's hunting no treasure! With no name for herself in Waterdeep, the tabaxi has to reach for every opportunity she can, and that includes the expedition offered by a prominent criminal boss. Hopefully things work out! They should, right? Right?
- Market Day (Adventure): After a long morning of exploring the wilds around Waterdeep, Echo takes a shortcut through the market on her way back to the Notch. But oh? What's this? Teleporting spikey haired invaders from another dimension? And their crossbows hurt!
- Susie's Quest Marker #2 (Adventure): While enjoying a day out in town Echo stumbles across an adorable little magic shop with a spunky teenage witch. Agreeing to fish for some ingredients, the tabaxi forgets one little thing - fish live in water! And Echo "deathly afraid of water" in the Valley has no idea how to escape the magical lake she finds herself teleported to.
Old/Dropped Threads
- A Request (Adventure): Taking on an odd job offered by an even odder (and smelly) lady, Echo joins a new group of adventurers to travel into a nearby forest and gather a list of unique ingredients. The tabaxi, though, is far more interested in a chance to see some cool monsters than the payout.
- A Feather in Your Cap (Social): A tabaxi's curiosity is a fickle, but incredibly powerful, force, and a night guard in the Waterdeep market was set to find out firsthand. Her eye on a little key, Echo was ready to steal a quick look and be on her way but - ack! What's this? Birds are falling out of the sky!
- All's Not Wellholm (Adventure): What's the best way of getting out of a city without getting killed by a bunch of hired thugs? Caravan guarding! At least that was what Echo supposed. Taking a bit of advice from the Notch's owners, the tabaxi hired herself off to a caravan bound for Wellholm, hoping to slip out of Waterdeep, make her way to Daggerford, and pocket a bit of gold in the process. Not a bad deal! Encountering a bumbling priest on the road, however, has complicated things.
- Lost in the Woods (Adventure): While heading home from a performance Echo stumbles across (or rather gets stumbled upon!) a distraught woman from an outlying town looking for some help: a kid has gone missing! Memories of her time in the orphanage making her sympathize with the lost girl, Echo decides to join a giant and a glassblower in looking for her, despite the rapid approach of a cold winter night.
- It's Not a Crime if No One Sees You (Social): Echo isn't a thief anymore, honest! That part of her life is behind her. But when a young man tries (and fails spectacularly) to steal from a vendor, the reformed treasure hunter can't help but offer a tip or two for old times sake.
- A Sky Full of Trouble (Social): One jump, two, and then three...Echo is in the middle of winning a bet when her foot slips and she tumbles off the roof of a glass shop. Oh no! Thankfully an old traveling companion is there to stop her fall, and the two decide to spend a much delayed afternoon together.
- To Find a Mockingbird (Social): The City of the Dead sucks! Really sucks! But Echo has no choice but to go there: she's on a hunt. For birds! But not the flying kind - the Birds! With a stolen map, a criminal boss hot on her tail, and re-occurring dreams of the past, Echo hopes to get help from the group one more time to do something important: find her old partner.
- Lions and Tigers and...Bear Things, Oh My? (Social): What's worse than the City of the Dead? The Dock Ward, of course! After discovering a street fair Echo finds herself trapped in her least favorite part of the city and, her fear of water in full force, is also finding it hard not to cry. What does she need? A distraction! And what's a better distraction than a man shouting on top of a bucket next to a huge box-covering tarp!
- Rock and Roll (Social): It seemed like a nice day for exploring! At least it was, until Echo checked out a bunch of bushes and ended up falling down a rocky hole in the ground. Ow! Now with her leg all busted up, the tabaxi has to find her way out, and something seems to be coming towards her in the dark. If only she had a way to magically heal herself.
