While everyone else was checking their stuff and their bones, or rather, their surroundings in the case of Aislinn, Arioch couldn't help but notice that he was feeling a certain... breeze in his face that was not quite what he had become accustomed to while inside the city. It was such a strange thing to feel again, like a wind in the groin, it just wasn't the norm. He brought both of his hands up and touched his face only to feel the touch of his warm skin, his mask lay broken down where he stood after having received the bulk of the impact from him and possibly saving him losing a few teeth.
Anxiety began to crawl up on him. Oh no, no. Not now. Not now. He quickly tried to pick up the pieces and see if he could patch them up together again, maybe use some thread. That was as far as he was concerned the worst possible time to be looking his usual young self. That mask was pretty much the only thing that made people regard him as something to be considered and not just a kid, the thought of being relegated to the role of youth again was stressful. Not that he would have minded it that much but the fact that it would be Aislinn the one to probably do that, or see her change in attitude made it terrible. For a man like him, being disregarded, specially by a woman he more or less fancied, even if such attraction was instigated mostly by teenage passions, was a terrible, horrible thing; the most terrible of humilliations. There was nothing worst than pity, nothing worst than being seen as less than a man; to not even register as someone worthy of that kind of attention.
Oh no.
He quickly turned away from her and from the man too by pretending to be checking something else for the time being, and when she pointed out where the javelin was he slowly but surely made his way to it, awkwardly. And when they pointed out to the climb he saw his chance. If he made it first, he would be with his back turned to them and they wouldn't see, then he could find a dumb excuse to run off after they were safe. Yes. It was definitely a logical, well-thought out plan that in no way could go wrong.

DM to Stephen: With your nature check, you have the impression that this moss isn't quite normal moss like what grows on trees on the surface. But you don't quite know what makes it stand out - until a piece that you touch shimmers and starts to glow faintly and cause the other patches around it to light up in a really pretty soft yellow light. That's why it's not quite normal, it's bioluminescent! The glow seems less bright by you from the produce flame effect as a light source by Aislinn. DM to Aislinn: With your survival check, and having seen the moss light up from Stephen, you make the connection between the moss, the dark part of the wall you'd sensed earlier as an opening, and get the impression (made stronger if you choose to tap on more moss) that the moss is following the wall towards the opening. Plants need water to survive, you've heard water and felt the wind - you're pretty darn sure this moss might end up helping you light the way throughout the cave system you're in. Water flows from high to low, and being this close to the ocean? It's bound to lead to the coast. DM to Arioch: Shit, man, you are just overcome with the loss of your mask breaking. It's hard to focus on anything else right now. You saw the glowing moss, it was rather eye catching, but any sort of problem solving ideas that might have come from it have evaporated. As for your idea for climbing? The walls are rough and jagged, the geodes actually giving a decent array of hand-holds. However, as you start to try and find climbing spots, and you touch the moss (which lights up) you can tell the moss makes it quite slippery where it grows - which is scattered and impossible to tell where exactly it is due to you not having darkvision. The bit of illumination from the moss doesn't help, if anything, it heightened the darkness just outside of the glow until you can spend a few rounds worth of time letting your eyes adjust or someone brings light over to you. I am assuming you are opposite the side of Aislinn and Stephen, as you mentioned not wanting to be shot down and humiliated/noticed by Aislinn. If this is incorrect let me know, as around her is more light from her produce flame effect. Go ahead and roll athletics. There is 200 feet from the top opening to the ground, but the wall sort of concaves and convextes, so the wall isn't perfectly straight. Each roll will be for 30 feet of movement, though you only move 15 feet per 'round' according to climbing rules (half movement). If you want to roll several in a roll, we can see how far you get until you either fall or hit the top (7 rolls total to span 200ish feet). The DC changes based on the presence of moss in your 'check' space, as well as how well you can see the area around you to climb. If this doesn't make sense, chat me up on Discord

DM to Malakbel : You fail to get up the first 30 feet, falling, taking 1d6 damage (First 7) If you continue to climb attempt number 2, you fall again in the same place you fell before, taking 1d6 damage (Second 7) Third attempt gets you 70 feet up, in which you fall, again, taking 1d6 damage (roll 13) A fourth if you keep going get you 40 feet up, then you fall, taking 1d6 damage (roll 10) Let me know what outcome you would like to have, I'm find with this big of godmodding so to speak. From this (assumed) falling, Stephen and Aislinn, you may notice a faint shimmering happen around Arioch as he falls - arcana check if you wish to have your characters notice (I won't need perception, especially if Arioch continues to try and climb, and fail) DM to 3personal5me and Faye Let me know how you are progressing with the knowledge gained so I can give you further updates

Moss. Glowing moss, that was definitely new, but theoretically even if it did glow it should still follow normal moss rules, right? Whether or not that would prove to be the case it was the best theory she could hedge her bets on at the moment. Out of curiosity and having seen Stephen do it with no obvious ill effects, she reached out to tap her left hand against the moss, letting out a small hum of interest as it lit up at the contact. "Huh, interesting."
"Well, moss needs water to survive, as do most plants in general but that's neither here nor there, what that means is there has to be some nearby, and it will more than likely be running back into the ocean, which could help us find our way out. Though our obvious option does have us squeezing through an opening that leads to who knows where." Aislinn shared her thoughts to the best of her ability while gingerly continuing to light up the moss, still unsure if it was really safe but nothing so far it seemed to be alright. "Not to mention, we have another light source so that's nice." And it most certainly was, after all, she could only keep her own light up for a handful of minutes at a time. As such she decided to test a theory, to see how long the moss would stay lit for, or at the very least to see if it lasted longer than a few seconds.
"Maybe we can light a lot of it up at once to help you o-" Before she could finish her suggestion the sound of something contacting with the rocky floor caused her to turn only to see Arioch, who from her best guess had been attempting to climb. "Out. Just in case my light goes out."
Arcana Check: f5su_WwH1d20
(Aislinn is currently trying to see how long the moss stays lit, not an exact time mind you but more to see if its more than a few seconds and trying to see how the lighting situation looks when more than just a little patch is lit if she can.)1d20

He tried to climb, and he was pretty positive that he would be able to make it to the top when he fell of without even making it past the first seven meters, even as he tried to grab hold of more of the moss, he just destroyed the thing and fell onto the ground, loudly, and badly enough as to do damage to himself yet again. Damage that was enough to kill a man, and would have certainly worried anyone, probably. But he just got up again and trying to hide how flustered he was he just smacked his clothes as if to remove dirt and pieces of moss, and possible some blood.
"Hm" He said trying to sound pretty sure of himself "Yes, it's going to be pretty hard climbing from here" Pretending like he needed some kind of doctorate to be able to realise that much. Idly, hands to his waist, he finished listening to Aislinn with his back turned to her like he was oh so intently examining the moss. Her explanation made a lot of sense, he was so distracted that he was barely even paying any attention to it though.
"Don't worry about me, I can see really well in the dark this... This is nothing"
(Bring in the first 1d6 damage!)

DM to Arioch: Damage from first wall scale and fall: JKccbzEy1d6
Let me know if you continue climbing past this second attempt (confirmed on Discord you are climbing a second time) 1d6
DM to Aislinn: The moss stays lit for a good amount of time, fading slowly but steadily after about a minute. Moss that is more on its own lights up for a shorter amount of time, and moss that is growing in bigger clubs together stay lit up longer than average. If/when you run your hand over a larger section it seems to 'wake up' more of the moss around it, lighting up even more of it. When you do so, the moss has enough light on its own to create dim light in a 5 foot space around it. A more forceful wave of the hand results in the moss further away from where you touched to light up, as if the energy displayed on the moss in X area 'wave of force' style was enough to light up a 5 foot square in the direction of the force. The moss is seen marking the trail that leads to the crack-passage in the wall
Your arcana check grants you nothing
DM to Stephen: Noted that you are following passively for now, let me know when you would like to actively do something.
Your arcana check also grants you nothing1d6·1d6

He held the pain in and managed to not let out a pained groan other than an intense, calculated exhalation and a growl as he was getting up. Definitely not how he figured his day was going to go. While the fall hadn't been enough to kill him outright it certainly had started to do a number on his resilience, which made him want to stop for a moment instead. He was tempted to give it another shot but by then he had been forced to accept that climbing that high under the current conditions would not favor success. He sighed, still facing the moss.
"I don't think ve can get up this vay"
Arioch concluded.
"It might be a good idea to take a breather before moving on, I have no idea vhat could be lurking in a place such as this but caves this big... They're never uninhabited."
He shared, at least that was true were he came from and he could find no reason right now as to why it would be any different to a cave in the places he came from. Though usually it was about either bears or other furry creatures ready to dine on whoever came inside by accident. This climate and the local fauna he was not experienced with, but... but... He glanced from the side towards Aislinn. Perhaps... Perhaps a druid of the land he was in would know them, right? It only made sense.
"Say Aislinn... Vould you... Happen to know if there are any other creatures in here right now, or vhat kind of creatures ve could run into?"

"I think we can afford to take five, given the fall you just had. But you're right, we shouldn't linger." Stephen turned to his companion, hoping her insight into the natural world could help. "What do you think? You're the closest thing we have to a cave expert right now".

Aislinn watched on with a mixture of perplexed amusement and barely withheld frustration as Arioch tried yet again to climbed the wall, and unsurprisingly failed. At his conclusion, she let out a small sigh and pinched the bridge of her nose with her free hand, and simply gave a shake of her head. Deciding it would be best to refrain from commenting, for the time being, instead she moved from the wall towards where Arioch had landed.
"A rest would certainly be wise," Particularly after a fall like that, as Stephen had pointed out. Aislinn, however, kept that to herself as she let out a secondary sigh and bit her lip for a moment as she thought. Having been asked for any kind of information she seemed to be coming up blank, caves, after all, certainly weren't her forte.
"Unfortunately, caves happen to be outside my general realm of knowledge," She started taking in a breath before continuing on. "I'm not exactly experienced in what to expect in them, particularly ones along the coast. But from what I gathered I at least have an inkling on where we need to go, unsurprisingly it's through that crevice," With that, she jerked a thumb back in its direction, though it was more than likely outside what little light she could currently provide.
"As far as anything being in the room with us, I'm relatively certain we're alone at least on the level where something could be harmful. For what to expect, I am uncertain. Maybe spiders, they tend to like the dark, albeit I'm unsure of their feelings towards water," Giving a small shrug of her shoulders she once again bit her lip in thought. "I can try and come up with some other ideas as we rest but there aren't any guarantees." It was then a realization struck her, and concern flashed across her face.
"But are you sure rest is going to be enough, those looked like some bad falls, not to mention the one we all took to get down here in the first place," Her initial words were directed towards Arioch, but as she continued her head turned to look at Stephen. "And what about you, are you holding up alright?"

Stephen shrugged, rolling his bruised shoulder. "I'll be fine. Give the kid a breather, then we can move." He turned his back to the group, peering into the darkness towards the crevice mentioned earlier. "He's the most athletic of us, and if he couldn't make the climb, I doubt either of us would." He turned back to them, contemplating their next move. "We face a dilemma. I have the best eyes, Aislinn has the light, and Arioch is the muscle. Who should lead, who's in the middle, and who brings up the rear?" Stephen had a bad habit of taking charge. When you're job was to arrive on scene and take over, you sometimes fell into the habit.

After a period of time for the three (consider you to have had a short rest) you three choose to follow Aisling's directions through the crack in the wall. The moss lights up as you touch it, illuminating the space to a nice dim-light level. The path bends and turns, slighting turning to the east after having gone south some 40-50 feet. The cave paths are decent size, ranging from 5 feet at the narrow opening to widening to 20 feet in the widest section. The moss is heavier in a few patches at the bends, and lights up brighter at that point. Because it is light-up moss, a perception check is not needed. The moss has a few tendrils growing into the left path, but the bulk of it is following the right side wall and grows heavier to the north (forward) path. Quickly if they powered through, slowly if they take their time, eventually they reach a fork in the path they are taking. To the left and continuing forward. It's hard to see what is inside or down each path until someone goes in, sends light further, or otherwise chooses which way to go. DM to Aisling You have an updated map! Everyones HP , to my knowledge. If anyone recovered HP during the short rest, please let me know how and roll if needed Aisling: -3 (15/18) Arioch -12 (18/30?) - de-level your hp to confirm for me please? 12 starting level, 7+2 lvl 2 and 3, yes? = 30) Stephan -2 (6/8) For progression, please choose your next path: Left or Forward?
