Dust settled.
Stones finally rolled to a halt.
Cracked open geodes shone in the barest bit of light that reached down from some 200 feet up.It was impossible to say how the group of three, minding their business - exploring the shore and caves of the Sword Coast's beaches, only to have the floor give out underneath them - managed to survive the massive fall. Aching, the trio would need to brush off rubble, or even climb out, and perhaps even tend to injuries. Just because they survived the fall didn't mean they were unscathed. And? If they were lucky any gear they happened to have carried with them wouldn't have been destroyed or lost in all the rubble. And if they had? It'd take some time to scavenge around to see what they could find. The only light, if anyone squinted upwards to see, came from the hole they fell through. Falling DamageIn alphabetical order, I am rolling 1d6 damage for each of you:
Aisling: Take induyj8V1d6 bludgeoning damage
Arioch: Take 1d6 bludgeoning damage
Stephan: Take 1d6 bludgeoning damage Equipment Anyone? If you would like to have equipment with you, list out what you have somewhere in your post, and describe how your character had it in their possession, ie, holding, backpack, tied, etc. Then make a luck roll (a single d20) The ground where the adventurers were sprawled out on was uneven, rough, and damp. The scent was musty, almost putrid in the way there was a heavy fish-and-brine sort of smell. Even with their range of vision, it was impossible to tell from where they were prone to see how big the room was. A light source or exploring would have to occur to see further, or in any detail. Passive 15+ Perception gains this information:The sound of water dripping from somewhere could be heard now that the rocks had settled, and a faint hiss of wind came from somewhere to the east. Calling for Active Rolls! If you would like to try and find any other details in the immediate area, describe what your character is looking for and then make a perception if looking for something, survival if wanting more information about the cave in general, or investigation if you succeeded the passive 15 to notice the wind and water. If there is something else you would like to do in this starting scenario, ask me on Discord and I'll help you out. OOC Note:Overall? Don't worry about accidentally moving around in this room too much. Worse case I will ask to edit. When in doubt, write it out - we'll adjust if needed. I know this isn't much to go off on for a first post, but you're exploring a sudden cave in Feel free to RP anything you were doing before falling in as well, as long as by the end of your post you are in the current 'time' of where this post describes. I have noticed the dice rolls do not show up on mobile. How strange. Here is a snippit of the damage rolls for reference if you are on mobile:

Stephen coughed profusely as he shoved some of the rocks off of him and sat up. He had a splitting headache, and he bashed his knee pretty bad. Dragging himself to his feet, he looked around in the dimly lit cave. There was a bit of light coming in from high up, and he could hear water nearby. That was about the limit of his senses, unfortunately. Patting himself down, he checked to make sure he had all of his equipment. He had come with his armor, weapons, and manacles. Unfortunately, he had left his pack (and all the gear it held) behind, thinking he wouldn't need it so close to town. He was working a pretty simple missing persons case. A child, with a tendancy to run off. She hadn't been home in a few days, and evidently she liked to play near the cave. It looked now like his main concern was getting back to the surface.

With a groan Aislinn pushed herself up, first to her knees, and then up the rest of the way. The entirety of her body protesting at the movement. Who knew helping look for a missing child could be so painful. Fragments of fallen rock clattered to the ground around her while she took a moment to gather herself. Pushing back the pulsing pain in her shoulder, and left side she gave a quick glance around the area. At the moment there wasn't much to see, her vision hadn't quite adjusted to the sudden lack of proper lighting. Taking a moment she took in a breath flinching slightly at the twinge of pain it caused, though it subsided to a dull throb quite fast. Letting her focus turn outward she managed to barely pick out the drip, drip, of water somewhere in the distance. Glancing upwards she caught the glare of sunlight causing her to blink before looking away, even the amount that was filtering through the hole above seemed too bright in the darkness that filled the room they'd, or perhaps only she'd fallen into. "Hey," She started, still trying to catch her breath. "Is everybody alright?" She asked casting her glance around the darkened area, a shot of annoyance coursing through her as she still waited for her eyes to come to terms with the sudden shift in lighting. Shortly after that, a thought struck her, to actually check if all of her gear was still on her person, or at least the bit of it she carried around Waterdeep with her. Until recently idle hands shot to her hips to check for the hilt of her scimitar, and the pouch of components she kept tied there. Admittedly it was a light load to travel with, but falling into a cave hadn't been an activity she expected to undertake. The rest of her gear was neatly packed and at the foot of her bed back in the room she rented at The Safehaven Inn. The comfort of the Inn seemed distant now, and she willed herself to focus on the issue at hand, finding a way out of this overly glorified hole in the ground. OOC Ahead Aislinn's currently prepared spells. I do realize this is the same spell list that's in my signature but I'm going to try and get into the habit of putting the spells Aislinn has initially prepared in the first post of adventure threads. Cantrips - Frostbite, Guidance, Produce Flame 1st Level - Earth Tremor, Entangle, Fairie Fire, Healing Word, Ice Knife, 2nd Level - Barkskin, Enhance Ability, Spider Climb Luck Role: zFGv4W581d201d20

DM note for Aislinn: With your luck role, you still have your pouch and your scimitar, due to them being tied to your person - however, some of your spell components have fallen out due to a tear in the bag. It's not an item ruining level of destruction, just enough to cause potential problems when going to pull out components. I'll leave it to you how you wish to have this affect your spell casting.

Now his reason for being there in the first place was a bit strange. It's not that he was following her, he was just curious is all. Seeing her in company of another man made him wonder about what could possibly be going on there, surely some asking wouldn't be strange. Specially if they happened to run into each other by chance, yes? Sadly his opportunity slipped away so he had to find another way to approach them and that chance came near one of the beaches where he would swing his arm from a distance after "recognizing" her, just then. He was already having second thoughts about the idea when he realised there was no going back he was going to have to come up with something and say it. It only then occurred to him that it was a terrible plan and he was not a good talker at all. A few seconds passed but it felt like an eternity to him. A silent prayer took shape in his thoughts. He opened his mouth.
And then the ground gave in and they fell into... a cave? The fall was terrible in and of itself and he had the roughest possible of landings below, the sting of scratches and bruises already hurting over his body. With a groan, he slowly pulled himself up and took a look around, into the darkness that surrounded them. On his back, tied to his body was his greatsword, and the four javelins he always carried with himself had also fallen. He didn't have much in the way of equipment, really, other than his clothes, his mask, and his weapons, and no reason to carry them around either. And why would he? He wasn't planning on exploring anything that day.
"I'm alright..." He muttered with a hoarse voice, his vision trying to adapt to the dark around him. "You?"
On the off chance Tempus had heard him and thus thrown him down into a cave for fun... Well, he couldn't complain much. There weren't many ocurrences of "being swallowed by the earth" that were less lethal than that. Fair enough. Well played, Tempus. He'd have to be more careful with his thoughts and/or prayers from that moment onwards... Or show a little respect. Maybe.
The first thing he did was check out if his gear was still with him, most importantly, his greatsword. That was hard to replace, very expensive in fact, and would loathe to just randomly lose it on such a happenstance. His thoughts immediately turned to theft, and to the other swords he had seen in the market, and not only swords but spears, axes, and other marvelous weapons. Excuses wouldn't get any better than that... But even so that greatsword had been synonymous with safety for a long time. He would certainly feel naked without it, but worse of all would be to find himself without weapons at all. At least he had some practice with unnarmed combat thanks to the giant blue woman he had fought with in the past few days, who would have thought that could come in handy so soon? But it only proved him right. A warrior should master all forms of combat in order to be always ready to fight and face any circumstances, regardless of equipment at hand.

DM for Arioch: Oooph, double fours. Not good. Luck roll results: When you fell, you landed on your stomach-side instead of your back-side. Because of this? Your mask took the brunt of the fall damage and split in two, chipping a majority of it, and making it impossible to wear. The muzzle is partially shattered and very cracked. Consider it to have the broken and fragile condition on the two halves. Your weapons, however, were strapped to you well enough that they are fine. Greatsword is perfect, and the javelins good - three of them at least. One came loose and could be in the room around you. Perception Roll: It's a dark-ass room XD Rocks are everywhere from the cave in, and light only faintly comes from up above. You're probably too focused on the tragedy that befell your mask to notice anything else at this point unless someone points it out to you. Adventure Update:Will be held off until one of you three let me know how you are moving around. I have: Faye : Aislinn checking her gear and waiting for her eyes to adjust (feel free to roll perception) 3personal5me : Stephen is also checking his gear and just took a simple look around (also, feel free to roll perception) Arioch is painfully unaware and checking his gear, asking if everyone is okay

Satisfied that he still had his equipment, Stephen breathed a sigh of relief, followed by a second when he realized he wasn't alone. "I'm down here as well!" he called out to the voices. He was thankful to not be trapped alone, otherwise he may never make it back out. In the dim light he looked around, hoping to gather more information before he acted. The cave was dark.and big. But there had to be more to it than that. He shook his head and tried again, looking for any detail that could be useful. His eyes poured over his surroundings, but he never moved from his spot. Not until he was sure it was safe.
(given that it's dark, I assume a human would have disadvantage on perception checks. I'll roll two, but if I don't have disadvantage I'll take whatever the first roll is)

"I'm as good as I can be," Aislinn called back turning her head in the direction of the somewhat familiar voice, before turning to look towards another and letting out a small humorless laugh. "I feel like the my go-to of good for you doesn't really fit the situation." She called back in response to the second voice. Internally cursing as she noted the tear in her component pouch. It was still usable sure, but who knew what fell out of it on the way down and she was forced to tie it up differently so nothing else would. Thankfully it was a relatively quick fix, albeit a sloppy one.
With that done and her eyes having adjusted to the gloom she took in her surroundings. It was a quick scan, looking for a direct way out that perhaps didn't involve climbing. In addition, she did keep an eye out for anything else that might pique her interest, holes in the floor, you never could be too careful with caves, and any other hazards that might decide to befall all of them. One unpleasant surprise a day was her limit, and she assumed the other two felt similarly.
While she looked around a thought struck her, so she called out again. "Does anyone need a light, fair warning it won't be the brightest thing in the world but it may be better than what we have." Giving another glance upwards she waited to hear a response.

DM to Stephen As you are both 1) human with no nature-based class abilities, and instead focus on more society-based skills (does that make sense? I hope so :3 ) and 2) no dark or dim-light vision, you really only see what’s illuminated by the faint light, and that’s barely there as it is. The sounds of water are still something you can sense with your hearing, as well as a path a faint wind is taking. It’s clear there’s somewhere else to go – you aren’t just in a pit. But the pitch-black around you makes it impossible to see more without a light source. DM to Aislinn Your perception is on high alert! Which makes sense, being a druid. Even though you are more comfortable in the forest, your natural in-born ability to connect to the lands around you syncs you to picking up the nuances of this new environment. Immediately your eyes are mapping the area around you, your Wanderer background feature instinctively applying to this ‘I’m lost’ scenario. And with your darkvision? You’ve had a few ‘rounds’ to adjust to the lighting, and you can now start to make out a few edges of the cave around you. As you focus on it? You can tell, even in black and white vision, there are a few more geodes in the wall, just like the ones that drew your party into the cave up above. I use the dual-ability of having dim and dark vision as a sort of venn diagram of distance. You see the 60 feet of dim light area from the light source up above, then 60 feet beyond that? Once you start adjusting it becomes more clear – not quite a full 60 feet of DV+, but a sort of ‘this feel right’ mix. So you have about 80ish feet of vision at the moment, give or take. You can see the walls of the cave room you are in. If you have no additional light, your distance of dark vision would expand slowly each few rounds. With light added? It will be back to the 60+some change as it was in the beginning. The walls have some sort of growth on them, in splotchy patches, here and there. (You’d have to get closer to know anything else there). And as you take in the circumference of the room? You notice a dark gap, no more than about 2-3 feet wide – enough for a small creature to easily walk through but a medium creature would need to squeeze. Is that a pathway out? You see, otherwise, no other proof of life down here. Overall the room you are in is about 100 feet wide. Some walls make the distance closer to 60/70 feet from your center point, as it is not a perfect circle. Around you are the crumbled rocks of the floor you were on. And with that above 20 roll? You also notice Arioch’s 4th javlin – it had rolled just out of the dim light range to the north. There is no waterfall like the image suggests, but the ground is wet – the brine-y smell you get. North is the top of the map, with south (obviously) being the bottom. Congratulations Aislinn! Because of your background feature you get a map <3 I will unveil areas you specifically travel, and it is up to you IC to share the ‘map’ with your party members if you so choose. Meta-knowledge wise, I’m not worried the other players seeing this. If I was? I would have PMed the map to you. That being said, Ty and Mala, your characters doesn’t have a mental map, unless you choose to start drawing out one somehow with the materials you stated you already had.

Okay, the initial panic of being in an unknown place was ever so slowly abating. With her scan she had noticed a few things, the most notable, at least for the moment, was the blotch of darkness on one of the cavern walls. In addition, the splotches of something on the walls did hold her interest, and she found herself wondering what exactly it was, maybe moss? But it didn't seem damp enough, then again caves weren't her forte, but she was doing the best she could with what she had. Having decided to not wait for an explicit answer to her question Aislinn gave her wrist a twist and a snap of her fingers.
"Fara." With that, a small flicker flame sprung to life in the palm of her right hand. It wasn't bright, even compared to a torch but it would hopefully be better than nothing. If it proved to be more of hindrance she wouldn't mind dismissing it but for the time being, she decided to shed at least a little light around her. With that, she gave a nod of her head before glancing in Arioch's general direction. "I think that belongs to you," She stated, motioning with her free hand towards the fallen javelin, if needed she would be more specific but for now she decided to relay what she knew.
"I think there might be a way out down that way," This was said as Aislinn turned in the direction she'd seen the gap. "Admittedly I have no idea if it really is, but unless you're really good at climbing it might be the only option." She gave glance up as she said this to where she, along with the other two had been only a short while ago. "But if you have another idea I'm open to it," And she was, after all, if there was a way up here, which didn't seem to be the case, she'd be willing to give it a shot.
After speaking her piece she let her curiosity get the better of her and maneuvered towards a nearby part of the cave wall. More specifically one with the splotchy substance she couldn't quite make out from so far away. She wondered if perhaps she knew what it was, or could make a guess of some sort. While she had no idea if it would or not if she could figure out what it was she might be able to get a better idea of the cave system itself, or at least what they could possibly expect or it might not. Either way, she was interested.
(OOC: Aislinn cast produce flame which sheds 10ft of bright light around her and 10ft of dim light beyond that. Just throwing this up for mechanic reasons if it's needed.)

Stephen hurried into the glow of the light, following his companion to the wall. "Well I'm not much of a climber. Hopefully you're right about the way out, otherwise we may be stuck down here for a while". He continued to look around the cave, wishing he had taken the time to study nature. "Worst comes to worse, we could try to climb, but I'd rather not risk breaking my neck if we don't have to".
While he wasn't at home in a cave, he certainly wasn't afraid of the dark. He just didn't like not being able to see. Many dangerous things lurked in the dark, and he wasn't lucky enough to have dark vision like so many others. He would have to remember to carry a light source with him, or perhaps even see if he could learn a cantrip to help him.
