The room is dark. You're standing on a small platform that's rising into the air, a hexagon of light shining suddenly - blinding you. The call had been too great. The prizes to wondrous. The boastful bragging rights too tempting.
You'd signed up, and gave your Name -willing given, true, and complete- as the admission fee to a little girl, no more than say, 15 in age, who wore a purple witch's hat who dutifully wrote down whatever you spoke with a stunning elegant pure white feather. Your Name scratched across your heart, the ink your own lifeblood on the parchment of unknown origins.
You see, the Fae Courts were in need of a new wash of names to power their Mantles. The alignments of spring, summer, fall, and winter too stagnant and normalized. A power boost was needed, and that power came from a being's True Name.
The unknowns of the dark, deep, and terrible needed names too. Though they rarely churned from their slumber, the alien like mystifyingly terrible needed substance as well. A being's True Name was a delightful snack to tide them over the next century or so.
Totems. Spirit Guides. Bestial figures of war, triumph, and blood. While not one to deal outside their chosen afflicted it was too potent a prize to pass over. Fresh power through True Names meant their touch and influence could travel further.
Fiends, demons, devils of darkness and necrotic - all matter of hell touched and hell bent from fire, ice, and storm caught to tear their victory of the spoils gathered here today and use those True Names for their own selfish purposes.
Angels, celestials, creatures of light and radiance - figureheads of pure unrelenting power shown from the heavens and war-cries joined with the purpose of collecting these True Names as influence for themselves.
Deities. Patrons. Guides. Gods. Goddesses. Celestial Bodies. Devils. Archfey. Fiends. Old Ones. Undying. Elementals. Personifications of Domains. They were all here, of all levels and influence, to watch the games begin.
Whoever was the victor would win a hefty bounty of material goods. Whoever the victor gave allegiance and representation to? That faction would win the list of True Names.

"Welcome tae Teh Waterdeep Games Lads an' Lasses!"
Hello everyone! I have a sprawling new Adventure Thread in mind I'd like to run for the board. As you may have guessed from the prologue, it is Hunger Games inspired. A death match, PvP and PvE, survivalist game of cunning, brute force, and a heaping amount of sheer dumb luck (better pray to the dice gods now).
As I'm hoping nearly anyone who reads the phrase 'Hunger Games' will know the style of adventure this will be I won't go into too much detail. Other books you might know the troupe to be in? Battle Royal. Essentially it is a fight to the death style face up. You only keep going by surviving.
In no particular order are the basic guidelines I will be following as I DM this adventure as of 5/17:
I will not have my own PCs in as combatants. It's too unfair for me to know the prizes, environmental hazards, DCs, etc for something this large. Instead they will have different roles within the adventure as NPCs. Citrine will be the MC. Gigi will be with the healing crew. Rhia will help with body recovery. I want to be involved and have my PCs be involved, but not at the expense of it being unfair
Only one PC per member on Waterdeep
No level restriction or cap
No limit to the number of people who can sign up. The more the better!
There will be multiple threads that will be following their own initiative list
I will be rolling my rolls in a separate post collection that I am hoping Kai can help me by making private. Rolls can be observed and double checked, but not be seen by players to add an element of
There will be a strict 24 hour posting time. You MUST post in your initiative order within 24 hours of it being your turn. Even if it's just a one liner and a dice roll. Penalty will be one level of exhaustion per missed turn. After 24 hours passes it moves to the next person.
There are exceptions to this. If something legit comes up in real life, please tell me immediately. Illness, family troubles, school studies, work, etc. We will work something out so it doesn't negatively affect the rest of the adventure as a whole.
There will be several threads, made up of the different environment sections. Moving from environment to environment will cause you to join the initiative round of that section's initiative list, and leave the one you were in. Yes this might cause confusion, but it shouldn't be impossible. I'll be tracking everything and keeping updates in an MC like fashion in yet another thread that will be maintained separately from the action. This lets people know what's happened/ing in different sections without needing to keep pace elsewhere.
EXP earned will be converting PCs to EXP CR level equivalent, surviving environmental disasters, and creature encounters.
The major prizes for 1-X rank will be pre-determined and posted in the hidden rolls thread I have. Other minor prizes to be determined still, and may be given for particular good RP, innovative use of skills and character abilities, and just damn good writing.
More is still to be figured out. This is not something that will be starting in 24 hours. Earliest might be early next week. There's a lot to flesh out. Environments to plan, creatures, traps, and encounters to lay out, etc. That bit of the work will happen if there's enough interest.
May the dice be ever in your favor.
Who's interested? Just state your Name.
