“Of course we do,” Miri laughed, agreeing with Kieran. She jerked back, looking around at the sound of a door slamming shut and a faint mooing, pulling back from the skull. “Did anyone…” She joined Warden in looking around. There was no sign of anything in particular.
“At the same time, then,” Miri’s voice was thick with laughter even before Kieran kept going. She laughed outright, reaching forward to slid her hand along the horn again, gripping it tightly the moment Kieran said ‘now.’

The moment that happened, the sky over the pasture darkened and a minotaur phased into existence. Said minotaur had an ivory key on a chain around their neck, their body rigid with surprise. Then the creature let out an angry bellow that filled the room, nostrils flaring as they raised their greataxe. The minotaur was alone, off their game and unsettled by whatever just happened, but that didn't make them any less dangerous.
(Roll for initiative! Because of the phasing effect, melee attacks against it have advantage.
Also, the initiative order for this combat remains the posting order even after combat is ended, until the next time initiative rolls need to happen. Let's give everyone a chance to contribute.)

“That is,” Miri said, wide-eyed and grinning, “a very angry cow!”
Miri let go of the horn, drew her rapier, and almost forward, slicing at the minotaur and pulling back away, disappearing back into the silo almost the moment the attack was struck.

The moment Miri stopped touching the skull, the minotaur faded away with a look of great relief. The sky above them cleared as well, and it was as though the minotaur had never been. Warden, raising her glaive to strike, stopped and stared for a moment in confusion, then glanced back and raised her voice.
"We need to keep contact! Bring it back, so we can get that key!"
Just what they needed the key for, she wasn't certain yet, but all these keys had to mean something. Is that how they get the Celestite Unicorn, or perhaps something else? There was only one way to know for certain.

On a certain level, the detective was not surprised. Of course the sky grew darker in this alley, as a minotaur appeared amidst them. It was all magic, so of course a small part of him expected such things.
The rest of him, of course, was bewildered. He was preparing for a fight, knuckles white as he gripped his baton, when the thing disappeared. He looked around for a moment before Wardens sage advice reached him.
"I'll get it!" he shouted as he ducked into the silo. He narrowly avoided crashing into Miri before he was able to find the skull and slap an open palm against its forehead.
"Is it back?"

The minotaur was indeed back, along with the darkened sky. However, the creature was no longer injured, lacking the wounds Miri had inflicted as though they had never been. However, that did not mean all was forgiven. Said minotaur narrowed their eyes and looked for the woman who hurt them, but Miri was not in sight.
As it drew close, Warden took advantage of her glaive's reach and whirled it in her foe's direction.
Attack of opportunity: h1_uGtsI1d20+3 1d20+3
(It should have been a +5 to hit, not a +3. But it still fails, so.)
The attack went wide, unfortunately, but it did succeed in catching the minotaur's attention. Letting out a bellow, the creature charged at her with their greataxe ready.
Reckless attack: 1d20+6 1d20+6
Damage: 2d12+4
Just as Warden's strike didn't land true, neither did theirs. The greataxe's swing wasn't enough to break her armor, though the creature remained uncomfortably close. And from the rage in the minotaur's eyes, the tiefling could easily gather that conversation was off the table. 1d20+3·1d20+3·1d20+6·1d20+6·2d12+4

The room might well be some sort of vivid illusion, but that minotaur was all too real and all too angry. As the sky darkened again, Crispin watched it make its reappearance. Now that they've figured out how to keep it around, they should be in better shape, although, it was pretty discouraging to see that it appeared to have healed itself in the meanwhile. "You're sticking around this time!"
He drew his blades... there didn't appear to be any chance of sticking to this thing, this time, anyway. Time to dart in and make a couple slashes at it...
Attack (Advantage): Elk9ZdZl1d20+3 OR 1d20+3
Damage (if it hits): 1d8+3
Bonus Action (Advantage): 1d20 OR 1d20

"W ell, that's about as evil cow as y' can get, really—" The room darkened and from over his shoulder as Kieran twisted his body, his violet gaze caught the brief flash of the minotaur's appearance for the first time after he and Miri both placed their hands on the silver, rune-engraved skulls. The skulls were the keys—but to that? Oh, for fuck's sake! Around the large beast's neck was an ivory key, and just as the half-drow noticed, Miri leapt from her place and took a swipe at the creature, only for it to phase out of existence when she was no longer touching the skull's strange horns. Stephen moved to replace Miri's contact in the key-decorated silo and Kieran's whole body tensed with anticipation. When the minotaur returned, but its minor injuries were completely healed! Gods, just ... why? Warden leapt in as soon as the beast flickered back to life, quick with her glaive and Crispin right behind her. The minotaur swung at the tiefling, the rush of its axe too slow and her aim not as true as their other companion's. "Someone come an' take m' place!" Kieran called out, aware that his request was somewhat sudden given how fast everything had, once again, unraveled into combat. If they'd have to fight there way through every room, surely they'd all find themselves exhausted. The half-drow thought quickly, memories of his childhood spent on the streets struggling to survive as well as his second life under the well-disciplined tutelage of his monk master swirling together in his mind to give him the spark of an idea. He took the risk quickly, letting go of the skull and swiftly stepping from the silo to leap toward the minotaur, reaching upward to grasp for the key dangling in tantalizing view, lithe fingers hoping to curl around it and yank it from its neck before it phased out again. Whether he managed the grab or not, Kieran would continue the momentum of his lightning-fast movement, stepping away with well-practiced caution and rolling back toward the silo out of the reach of the minotaur's axe and aware that his lack of contact with the skull would cause the beast to disappear unless someone replaced his touch during this moment of chance. Maybe they'd all have a moment to prepare again, should he miss, and be ready for proper combat once someone touched the rune-engraved horns to summon it again. Slight of Hand: xqyTL8_g1d20+3
((OOC Notes: Movement: Remove hands from skull, move toward minotaur, and then move back toward skull after grab attempt, whether success or failure Action: Grabbing for key (Slight of Hand) Bonus Action: Step of the Wind: 1 ki point to Disengage; jump distance is doubled. (Not to break the posting order, just making it clear that the minotaur -and the key- both vanish right after Kieran's attempt.)
