The smells were, in a word, overwhelming.
Wrinkling her nose, Sinraelyhna Starvale shook her head as if to shake off the offensive odors, but alas, the city reeked. Stale ale, grease, smoke, rotten fish, grime, possibly a faint whiff of urine; ah, the subtle perfumes of Waterdeep's Sea Ward. The druid missed Athkatla and the markets there, the rich spices and coffee, the fragrant vats of exotic oils, the textures of intricately woven tapestries that merchants shouted at the crowds to buy. She sighed and wiggled her toes against the cold wet cobblestone beneath her bare feet. The City of Splendors, Sin thought, her violet eyes dancing across the unfamiliar faces of Waterdeep's lackadaisical citizens garbed in their finery. I need a fucking drink. She paid no mind to the stares she received as the wood elf began her trek forward and through the crowds. The sun was just beginning to set to the west along the overcast sky, so the streets were full of idle folks chatting and people watching as they waited for the nightlife to begin. Sin just happened to be an easy target to watch unfortunately. The wood elf stuck out like a sore thumb, even though she had opted to throw on a cloak in an effort to blend in. The cloak doesn't do much when you're basically naked, she reminded herself, stepping to the side to avoid a rather large half-orc that was marching past.
The tiny bone beads of her jewelry clacked together as she did this, and the sound surprisingly calmed Sin's rising anxiety. Crowded cities always put her on edge...the moon and stars were never as bright here. Wrapping her cloak around her a bit more tightly, Sin took a deep breath and exhaled slowly and her eyes narrowed. The scent of grilled seafood caught her attention. Her stomach grumbled, loudly, as if voicing its encouragement. Determinedly, she followed her nose, quickly making her way through the streets and between a few shady looking alleys until she came across the worn tavern sign.
'The Fiery Flagon.'
Thunder rumbled in the distance and Sin looked up just in time for a single rain drop to smack her in the face. The last thing she needed to do was be in a city, wrapped in cotton, and rained on. Silencing her nerves, the druid opened the establishment door and slipped in, trying to keep quiet. The bustling of the tavern was quiet as it was still early, with only a few people sitting at tables and even fewer at the bar. None seemed to care or take notice of her as Sin beelined for a stool at the edge of the bar. Sliding into the seat, she kept her back to the wall, then waited for the barkeep, a rough and older sea-worn human man, to acknowledge her.
"What'll it be?"
Sin blinked. It had been a few months since she'd actually talked to someone, she realized.
"I...uh...food. Fish."
The barkeep barked out a laugh.
"We got, quipper, clearfin, trout, eel, salmon..." he trailed off, clearly amused by her ignorance of their menu. A bushy brow raised as he studied the cloth bindings around her chest and custom leather bracers and armor pieces that clung to her. Wood folk types, he figured. He would have assumed that Sin had never been on a ship before. And he would have been right. "We'll get you the house special," he offered after registering her slight panic at the sudden option of choices. Sin wordlessly nodded and watched as the human moved back towards the kitchen to put in her order. When the barkeep returned after a moment, he poured a pint of golden lager into a tankard and placed it in front of her. "You look like you could use one or ten of these," he said teasingly. The wood elf felt her cheeks warm and she picked the drink up to hide her face behind it.
"Thanks."
As the barkeep went back to another customer, Sin took three large gulps of the alcohol and savored the bitter flavors as she glanced toward the tavern window in time to see a flash of lightning outside. A second later, heavy rain began to fall, the sound of fat droplets hitting the roof and shingles of the tavern filling the rafters of the building. A barmaid was making her way around the bar and tables, ensuring that the lanterns and candles were well-lit for an inviting ambience, and Sin leaned forward with her elbows on the bar as she sniffed at the air. Pipe tabacco, cooked seafood, savory soups, burning firewood...definitely smelled better indoors than out. Less busy, too.
But then again, the night was young.

Stephen Ward sat in a booth, alone, in the corner of the Fiery Flagon. Before him sat the remnants of a grilled salmon dinner plate. Fish, steamed carrots and broccoli, and a bread roll. Simple, but filling. Now cold, as he nursed a drink. His eyes floated across the room, observing. In the back of his mind he was going over a cold case he had never managed to finish during his time with the City Watch. It was a trick he had learned, to let his subconscious work on a problem. Almost like a meditation.
It was while his eyes wandered that he spotted Sin. The smallest details jumped out at him immediately. Her gait suggested she was barefoot, or wearing thin sandals at most. Meanwhile, length of stride said she was comfortable without footwear. Her drink made it clear she was adult, but she was slight of stature.
A wood elf.
And a cotton cloak? He glanced outside, where the rain had already begun. For the hundredth time, he thanked the gods for his Watch coat. Knee length, leather, and beat to hell. He never left home without it. Part of it was because he was proud of his job. The fact that he carried his old badge seemed to agree. But more importantly, it kept the rain out. Unlike the cotton she wore.
Definitely not from around here.
He sighed. May as well welcome her to the city. He slipped out of his booth, leaving the plate and mug behind, and made his way across the room. He slid onto the stool beside Sin, signaled for another drink, and turned to greet the wood elf.
"Stephen Ward. You're new around here". It was a statement, not a question.

She was heading back to towards the City of the Dead when the skies opened up without much warning. Standing there, head raised to face the sky and water showering her, completely soaking her head to foot in moments, the healer closed her eyes, sighed, and drooped her shoulders. Water was already seeping down her neck and in between her leather jacket and... A hissed breath of reaction as if she'd stubbed her toe despite her feet being covered and protected by steel toed lace up boots.
She had to get out of the rain.
Hoisting her bag onto her right shoulder so as to not irritate the left any further Gigi turned, like many on the street, into the nearest tavern or inn. For her? It was the Fiery Flagon. Stepping through the door, stumbling as another would-be patron walked in faster and shoved her against the door frame "Hey watch it asshole!" she sneered at his back. Standing off to the side so others could pass Gigi made a brief check of her bag, opening it up and rifling through to make sure everything was fine still. Evidently everything seemed to be alright since she let the bag thump to the floor. Drenched pink hair, darkened from the shower that had opened up from above, a hearty scowl on the face, soaked faded and well worn blue-grey cargo pants, and D-hook leather choker collar around her neck - overall? Her dingy look wasn't helped by another hiss of irritation.
Grunting in annoyance Gigi bent her neck to wring out her hair - thick waves of relative straight hair on the right side, the left was shaved nearly to the scalp. That done, with yet another hiss, she finally unbuttoned her leather jacket and shrugged it off. Tattoos could be seen from the neck down immediately, trailing in flora and fauna designs across her collarbone and down the entire sleeve of her right arm. More flowers and vines dipped below the dingy crop top she had under the jacket, reappearing on her torso where the same vines could be spotted across the stomach as if growing out of her belly button - which was pierced. Just like her ears (heavily weighted with metal), eyebrows, nostril, and two on the side of her lip. Dermals, metal imbedded into the skin itself, glinted at the collarbone and, once she turned, on her lower back and within the series of lotus flowers that could be partially seen down her back. Purple up near the top of the spine, and red and orange near the bottom.
All that strange ruffian look paled in comparison to the fact her entire left arm was made out of metal.
She twitched again as the jacket came off completely. Water had gotten to where the metal met skin at her armpit/shoulder and it clearly wasn't something she desired. Huffing she shook out the leather then hug it on one of the community coat hooks offered near the fireplace. Rotating her shoulders she shook her arm, trying to shuck some of the water that had seeped into her jacket off her metal arm. She'd heard there was a chance for rain. But that? That was rain.
Picking up her bag now that she could start drying out Gigi went up to the counter to place an order for a cheap bowl of stew and a side of vegetables to replace the bread. The barkeep, already having just placed a pint of ale in front of a wood elf just slightly further down the bar, returned and nodded at the order. "Anything to drink?" He asked. Frowning lightly, she hadn't been planning on buying a meal today, she shook her head. "Nah, water though, if it's free." He grunted the affirmative and went back to get her stew.
Looking around the room, ignoring anyone who stared at her arm longer than what could have barely be seen as polite, Gigi's eyes froze when she spotted the City Watch coat. She kept her gaze rotating even as she swore in her head. 'Fuck.' Of course the Watch would be sent indoors too. Her name had cooled last she knew, but there was always the oddball civil servant who just wouldn't drop the charges even if the charges in questions had been paid off.
Then of course the Watch left his booth to wander up to the counter. 'Shit.'
Then he sat down.
'Damn.'
Oh well, nothing to do about it now. Her hair was unforgettable, she knew that, so if he was an active bloodhound on her trail? She'd have known it by now. Relaxing lightly the cleric was content to settle into simply eavesdropping before she did anything else. Someone new? There were always new people here, but it didn't hurt to learn what you could when you could. Maybe there was a reason she was new here.

Sin felt her neck tingle as she watched a human with dark hair stand from where he'd been contemplatively sitting a good twenty or so feet from her. With every quiet step he made in her direction, her heart beat in time until she could feel her pulse at her throat. She wondered if he'd noticed her eyeing him peculiarly. She hadn't meant to be off-putting...Sin simply enjoyed watching people's expressions as their minds worked. Sehanine's breath, he's going to talk to me. Her flight response kicked in and briefly sin wondered if it was considered rude to shift into a mouse and scurry away. Probably yes. Jewel-toned eyes darted behind the human, then back at him, then down at her drink. On the bright side, she didn't sense any immediate danger from him. On the dark side, he was -- Oh gods, he's sitting down. Inadvertently, Sin stiffened, feeling the his body heat along her right side. Wearing thin, breathable clothing had some advantages. Hearing him address her, she froze, trying to figure out a proper response.
You could just answer him.
Her inner voice was helpful as always.
"Stephen Ward," she repeated, testing his name on her tongue. Human names always had a nice feel. Not yet looking at him, Sin instead focused her gaze on the odd, metal-and-ink woman with striking hair. Her eyes lingered on the tattoos specifically; regardless of art form, the druid appreciated anything that gave reverence to nature in some way. Perhaps those designs meant something to the woman, much like her own body paint did. Sin wasn't quite sure if she'd ever seen someone like her before. He's staring at you. Yet again, a flush spread across her cheeks and finally Sin turned in her sit and looked up at Stephen. Studying his grey eyes, she admired the watchful storm that was hinted there. "I...that is to say this isn't my first time. Just haven't...you know what? Yes. New."
The words spilled out as her brain tried to keep up with her answers and Sin cursed at herself, annoyed by her clumsy conversational skills.
"Sin. My name is Sin."
She took a swig of her drink again, her eyes never leaving the human's. He was imposingly tall compared to her, but he did not look like a predator. Or at least not yet, anyway. Awkwardly trying not to just stare at him, the wood elf breathed in and looked down at his hands. Tapered and nimble fingers, strong. And he smelled of musk, leather, and smoked salmon. Much better than the city. He had a look though, as if he was ready to interrogate at the drop of a hat.
"What is it you do here? In...in the city. Uh..not the tavern."
Sin cringed inwardly at her attempt of engaging in conversation. Perhaps shifting into a mouse was still an option.

"I think this city has plenty of Sin, but I welcome you regardless". Up close, he had a much better view. The paint, the jewelry the... Minimalist clothing. A Druidic circle, he reasoned. His gaze followed hers, for a brief moment, where he spotted the woman with pink hair. She was watching him. She wasn't bad at hiding it, but Stephen had an eye for detail. A memory echoed in the back of his head.
Sin was an elf. Fair enough. He would simply speak in Elven. "I used to work for the City Watch. Detective. Now I work the private sector".
Pink hair, metal arm. Something about that screamed at him.
He continued speaking in the elequent language of the elves. "And what of you? Surely you aren't here for fun. You don't seem the sort to enjoy the city".
Pink hair, metal arm.
Pixie.
He glanced up at the criminal and winked.

Her stew was placed in front of her, as well as her water - served in a not as often used foggy glass. Hmm. That glassblower must have made it... Wrinkling her nose only slightly she lifted the glass and indulged in her exotic well water then settled to try the stew. Fish, as expected, but it wasn't terrible. Fine even. It would have been even better if she'd been in a good mood. Which was rare, being in a good mood that is.
She kept a glance at the two out of the corner of her eye just so she wouldn't lose track of the Watchman. And when the guard turned to speaking elvan? Gigi scowled. She never took elven as part of her studies. It was because of this language wall she didn't have her nerves soothed by the fact Stephan wasn't in the guard anymore, but a private hire.
Too bad.
She was eating through her stew a bit faster than she wanted to, the nerves she felt from sitting this close to a Watch the forefront in her mind. But her arm wasn't anywhere near dry enough for her to put her jacket on and leave, never mind her jacket itself being dry. She was stuck here for the foreseeable future - unless the rain relented. The flash of lightning through the windows? Yeah... She'd be here a bit.
Taking a chance Gigi looked a bit more obviously towards the two, just to see if she could place the name of Stephan Ward with a face. It wasn't an immediate recognized name, so at least he wasn't one of the main officers that she'd gotten to know during her lovingly considerate stay in the city jail for several years now at least some five years ago. But that didn't mean he hadn't been in and out of the long-term cell block here and there. Gigi looked up and was met with a wink.
Fuck shit damn.
She needed a cigarette.
Muttering to herself she reached into one of the generous pockets on her pant leg and pulled out a small thin box and pulled out a rolled thin stick. One of her homemade cigarettes, all tidily and neatly packed away like soldiers in the trench. Her arm lit up in between the 'tendons' and the 'bones' of the prosthetic, green light seeping out of the plates that made up the skin of her metal arm. As she held the stick in her skin hand the healer snapped softly the metal thumb and finger to set her fingertip alight with a life green fire. Pulling it all closer to her face she inhaled deeply to help set the cig on fire, an acrid scent of smoke mixed with cacco and brown sugar rising from the now smoking stress reliever. If Mr. City Watch hadn't been right next to her, Gigi would have offered a cigarette to the elf - it seemed by her way of speaking she was just as nervous to be next to him as she herself was.

So absorbed Sin was in the fact that the human had just shifted into elvish that she almost didn't notice when the barkeep came to set her food in front of her. The delicious aroma from the steaming bowl of paella wafted towards her and the druid licked her lips. White rice, peppers, garlic, onion, and a mixture of fish and clams in a hearty broth tantalized her and she pulled the bowl towards her. She nodded her thanks to the barkeep, then cocked a brow at Stephen. He was clever with words and his dialect was flawless. Did he have fey blood as well, or was he just talented with his tongue? Sin blinked and felt a scarlet blush creep up her neck at the thought. Even internally she had such a way with words. Saying a silent prayer of thanks that she hadn't just blurted that out, the wood elf adjusted herself in her seat. Thoughtfully she regarded him with a softer look. Perhaps he'd switched to elvish in an attempt to make her feel more at ease. Or maybe he did it because the pink-haired woman hasn't let him out of her sights. It was like a shadow, but the woman seemed to move with him in the subtlest of ways like a secret, experimental dance.
Tension was there. But it wasn't yet set on fire. Sin answered him in elvish and felt her shoulders relax some.
"A private sector? Do you like to be alone?" Okay that was a weird way to say that. "I mean, do you enjoy working independently?"
Heedless of the spoon, Sin took the bowl of food in her hands and lifted it to her lips to sip at the paella. The food was heavenly, and Sin hadn't realized how hungry she was. Eagerly she plucked a few morsels of peppers and popped them into her mouth. Only after she was licking her fingers did she remember that civilized people ate with utensils. Shyly she swallowed her food quickly, then grabbed the spoon awkwardly with her left hand. The wood elf wouldn't admit this readily to those she didn't know, but Sin preferred eating while shifted -- things seemed much more satisfying and natural during a hunt. She ran a finger along the hammered metal of the spoon, then looked back to Stephen. She was getting used to the warmth he generated.
"No, not...ah, not for fun," she said with a small laugh. "I guess I am a little obvious..." She smiled, a dimple forming in her right cheek. "Was planning to resupply." And work on my social ineptitudes. Sin frowned a bit, then spooned a small bite of her dinner into her mouth, going slowly so as not to dribble on herself. "I guess I am looking to sell myself, too." Sin dropped her spoon. Dragon balls! "Gods, not that way! I mean like work. Jobs. Take a job. Coin. I need to make coin." Her voice turned somewhat meek. "From a message board. A bounty."
Sin was grateful this was in elvish. She was mortified enough with just Stephen understanding her and she didn't think she could handle if the pink-haired one judged her, too. Quickly changing the subject, she coughed and paid closer attention to her food again, thought felt honey-gold eyes on them.
"That metal-armed woman...are you acquainted with her? She seems wary of you, Stephen Ward."

He watched, his expression carefully controlled, as she began to eat with her fingers. While he preferred utensils, he understood some felt more comfortable using their hands. He certainly wouldn't judge. He was surprised, though, when she picked up the spoon. Trying to look normal. "I enjoy getting away from the formality of the Watch. Sometimes rules get in the way". He drummed his fingers on the counter. "The woman is no danger. She's a street doc. No certificates, no questions, that sort of thing". He reached into his coat, retrieving the badge he had carried for so long. A flick of his wrist sent it sliding across the bar to Gigi. Stamped into the metal, in all capital letters, was RETIRED.
"There's plenty of work to be had, if you're willing to get dirty".

The sound of a badge drew her attention, her suspicious gold eyes narrowing at the old worn bronze of the badge. They narrowed even further when she saw the metal stamp. RETIRED. An agitated angry puff of smoke exited her mouth like a dragon as the reality settled down around her shoulders. He.... Was.... RETIRED! No wonder she couldn't put a name to the face! Snorting, more smoke out of her nose in agitation, she picked up the badge with her metal hand and fisted it tightly. Pair it with their elven conversation? It was impossible not to feel like she'd been the butt of a joke just now.
Using the fisted hand to wipe at her nose as if to itch it Gigi turned in her chair so she was facing the two seated further. She waited until the elf bent down to focus on her food again before lifting her hand and chucking the badge back at Stephen, hard. And with force. Her lip curled at the corner above where the cigarette still rested. "Dropped something, asshole." Fucking retired people, did they not have anything better to do?!
Heart still beating fast under her rib cage the cleric took another fresh puff of her joint and returned to her stew, harshly. Then tinged and hissed yet again as the rough movements knocked a small pool of water that had collected on the surface of some part of her arm and sent it knocking into the mechanical part of her limb. "Fucking piece of shit." She grumbled in an agitated mechanic sort of way and smacked her metal limb, taking out some of her aggression on the prosthetic.
It wasn't the first time she'd been the butt of a joke. It shouldn't have bothered her, and on any usual day? It probably wouldn't have. But with the rain, the scraped for coin she'd found herself at the end of the month with a lack of able to pay patients, and the irritation of the mechanical limb shorting out from the water had her on edge. The parts she needed to repair her arm beyond what her mending spell craft could do had been hard to come by and taken longer than normal. She'd thought she had managed to avoid ruining the limb further but nature had other priorities it seemed. Absently she tucked her feet tighter together, her bag in between the two, to keep it safe. She just had to wait out the rain and get home.

"A street doctor." Sin mulled over the thought, her head nodding. Well that was a good thing, she decided. To help someone without asking questions seemed like a noble thing; it wasn't really something Sin felt she could do herself, but she respected those that were able to follow such dogmas. The druid watched as Stephen slid something towards the woman, and Sin watched curiously as Gigi's expression morphed into a mix of emotions. Anger and irritation Sin recognized immediately. Taking a few more quick bites of food and another drink of her lager, she braced herself, feeling the energy change. Her eyes stayed watchful on the pink-haired one, but she commented to Stephen, still in elvish. "I do not...fear the dirt." She wasn't certain what sort of dirt the man was implying, but before Sin had a chance to ask, Gigi was moving.
Eyes widening in surprise, Sin squeaked as the woman launched whatever it was Stephen slid to her, back at him -- with gusto. As the woman furthermore began to aggressively take out her frustrations against her arm, Sin's brows furrowed in confusion and she shot Stephen an uncertain look. Did he know something that she didn't? The wood elf was at a loss as to what made the woman react in such a way, and the anxious part of her did not want to test the volatile geyser that threatened beneath her metal-and-ink. At least not in a tavern in a city she was unfamiliar with. Finishing off her paella, Sin pulled out a few copper pieces and motioned to the barkeep. The man strolled over to take the empty bowl and money.
"Would you like another drink?" he asked eyeing her nearly empty tankard. The older man seemed to be also flicking a warning glance between Stephen and Gigi.
Sin nervously smiled.
"No...ah, wait, yes, yes that would be fine." She nodded her head towards Gigi, and made sure to speak in common. "Drink. Her." Use your words, Sin. "I mean, also, a drink for her."
The barkeep didn't question the action, not caring who got what so long as he was paid. Pouring a pint for both Sin and Gigi, he set the tankards each in front of the two before heading towards the kitchen with the empty bowl. Sin listened to the crackle of more thunder outside as the storm raged, and hoped the offered drink settled the one that raged in her. Testing the tension with an attempt at humor, she pointedly met Gigi's gaze with a wolfish grin.
"So...uh...try not to throw that at me."

The badge bounced harmlessly against his chest. It wasn't the first time, fifth time, or even tenth time his own badge had been thrown back at him. One lucky throw almost took out an eye, but for the most part he stopped flinching when it was so enthusiastically returned to him. He switched back to Common, following Sins lead, and finally addressed Gigi directly.
"I deserved that".
He was self aware enough to realize when he was being an ass. "I work freelance now. And I know who you are. And I'm not trying to cuff you right now because I don't think you've done anything wrong".

The ale being set down in front of her was ignored at first. She thought it was a mistake, something the bartender placed there as an absent forgetful measure. But then the wood elf turned to her and, speaking in common, joked in a rather feral smile. Stephen's additional comment agreeing to her rather good aim as being something he deserved helped too. Hrummphing a suspicious hum she looked to the ale then back to the duo. A moment passed, then another, before she finally extended her tattooed arm up to grab the gifted pint.
"Yeah, nothing wrong with just sittin' here eating a meal after all." She knew he probably meant the most recent charges that had her names gracing the top of - illegal surgery, stolen goods, noise complaints. They were so common against her she portioned out a percentage of her earned coin in preparation for the fines. Or perhaps it was because of her 'accomplice' that had set the chef on fire about two weeks back or so. Of course that was all on Goromitali, not her, but hey - officials saw pink hair and knew exactly a name they could add to their paperwork to speed the process up.
"But thanks, elf, for the ale." Her nearly finished glass of water sat there now rather jealous. "Won't waste it by throwing it - alcohol abuse otherwise." She was awkward in social situations in her own right, her words blunt and heavy as well as saying just enough to get the point across. Really her voice had a deep jazzy tone to it and a roughness that wasn't near as bad as one would expect from someone who seemingly was a smoker. There was a definite air of 'I really don't care' that flavored her words, matched like wine to the undertone of 'you bore me.'
The undercurrent of tension still was felt in the room, at least to her. Though her face was smoothed in a mask of indifference internally she was counting the seconds between lightning glow and thunder rumbles. As soon as the storm lightened she was out. "Since Ward here knows who I am, minds well clue you in. Sup. I'm Gigi." She bobbed her head slightly upwards in greeting, no handshake or other physical greeting extended. It would have been stupid to use her nickname here, her real name would have been in the records Stephen was remembering. A part of her recalled an impression that a name had been given by the elf, but really? She'd not even gamble on what letter it even started with.

"Gigi."
As she had done with Stephen's name, Sin repeated the woman's. It tickled her tongue to say, and Sin's smile was an autonomic response because of it. She sipped at her lager before she realized that she hadn't returned the courtesy. Setting the drink down, she tapped her fingers against the wooden tankard and mimicked Gigi's head bob. Not in a mocking way, of course; she was simply copying what she thought was shown as an acceptable mannerism. She didn't want to escalate the tension she'd hopefully just brought down.
"I go by Sin. Nice to meet...oh -- Ah...I mean..." -- Sin squared her shoulders, bolstering her confidence -- "...sup." The druid snuck a look at Stephen before looking back at Gigi, hoping she'd done the greeting word correctly. She'd never heard of it before, and wondered what language Gigi had intertwined into her common. The pink-haired woman's energy was...negative, for lack of a better word, and Sin had a difficult time picturing her as any sort of healer. Why did she try so hard to be aloof? Not to mention she appeared ready to butt heads with anyone that looked at her wrong. The wood elf wondered what the woman had experienced in her life to act such a way. Perhaps something related to the unique arm she had been cursing at? You're staring. Snapping her eyes away from Gigi's arm, she looked back at Stephen, her violet eyes meeting his grey. And then she looked to Gigi's golden hued gaze. Then back to Stephen. Then again to Gigi. And once more at Stephen. Sin's brows lifted as she deduced the antipathy.
"She..." -- the druid blurted out and looked at Gigi again -- "I mean, you. You are a criminal?"
There was no harshness in her voice, just blatant wonderment. Gig's foul mood now made more sense.

"Yes, she is a criminal. She does things that are against the law. Like I said, it doesn't mean I disagree".
He sipped his new drink, his eye flicking between the two women. The two seemed almost diametrically opposed. A quiet, shy, and nature focused outsider and a loud, brash, and metal infused city dweller. He met a lot of people in his work, but these two certainly were interesting.
"Clearly your arm is causing you problems. Any way I could help?"

Gigi scowled at being labeled 'criminal'. A few people around them stopped their conversations and turned their way. The barkeep stopped what he was doing and rose an eyebrow. "Well that's one way to say it. I've paid my dues, and pay off my fines. City of Splendor is all about their laws as written and decreed, you serve your time and it's in the past." She spoke as if quoting something, grumbling the whole time. Picking up her bag that had been between her feet and plopping it down at the base of the stool next to Sin now, as well as sliding her pint glass over.
Seemed she was being roped into the conversation. No need for anything else to be blurted out loud for the whole tavern to hear.
"Arm's fine." She insisted bluntly, rotating the cuff and settling it on top of the bar in a perfect representation of being fine. "Nothing you need to be concerned with." It was an embarrassment really. A healer like herself with a prosthetic arm - and it being currently on the fritz like it was? It had discouraged enough would be patients away from her before.
Looking back at Sin she pursed her lips slightly. It was obvious as a blood clot she was a druid, and a wild one at that. It would have been like arguing with a toddler. She sighed, not up for an argument tonight. "Yes, according to the records of the City Watch, I am a registered and known criminal outlaw for the crimes of, primarily, practicing the healing and medical arts without proper documentation, license, or dues to the Guild of Apothecaries." There was more too it of course, lots of petty cases (and some not so petty) of thievery, breaking and entering, forgery and possession of illegal papers, assault, bribery, blasphemy against the guild and prestigious potioneering businesses that supplies said guild... The list went on and on. But no need to flaunt that in public.
It was the false documentation and surrounding crimes related to said forgery that had gotten her into so much trouble the first time around, resulting in the long-term dwelling of Waterdeep's finest cells.
"You'll find, elf, that Waterdeep isn't as nice and full of splendor like the Lords want everyone to think. The wealthy and noble are anything but splendid." She quieted herself then by picking up her gifted drink and staring at it with a careful eye. A flicker of green pulsed behind her eyes quicker then it took to blink. Another pause of consideration, swirling the contents to make a small whirlpool, then finally picked it up and took her first drink.
