Crucible: Hearing the mechanical click emanate from inside the hollow coffin, you act just fast enough to interpose himself between it and Juliette, but slow enough to leave yourself at a disadvantageous position when the trap is sprung. With a series of dull thwangs a small collection of crossbow bolts fly upward at an angle through small holes bored into the coffin side.
Attack Roll (with Advantage):
OVJ|MrOL1d20+5 / 1d20+5
Damage if it hits:
2d10
Juliette: With Crucible at your side you are protected from the barrage of bolts. However, as the trap is sprung on your companion, you also hear the crack of wood being splintered and forced aside coming from the hallways in front of you, possibly from some chamber farther to the northeast. 1d20+5·1d20+5·2d10

Crucible grunted as several of the bolts managed to sneak pass his shield and embed themselves in the playing over his ribs. He grabbed them and yanked them out, tossing them aside where they clattered to the ground. He ran his fingertips over the furrows and sighed. Getting shot never did feel good, even when you knew you could heal it up.

Juliette’s jaw tightened when the warforged interposed himself between her and the danger. Almost as an afterthought, one blade of hers dipped down to cut across the wire, just to make sure that it wouldn’t be tripped again – though she was fairly certain that her continuous movement forward had likely pulled the trigger until it could be reset, it wasn’t worth the risk in the event that the designers of the trap were more clever than expected.
“I told you to allow me to act as the shield.” She spoke with clipped irritation clear in her voice. She spoke swiftly when she saw him preparing to cast a spell as well. “Don’t expend your magic healing such injuries. We may have need of it for the challenge ahead. My Lady will tend to your woe far more effectively.”
To prove the point, her other hand reached out to touch against Crucible’s side. Still wrapped tight about her weapon, her knuckles pressed to him, and she opened herself to her Goddess.
When she spoke again, Juliette’s voice thrummed with unnatural energy. Her gaze remained locked forwards, not meeting Crucible’s eye – because her eyes were replaced with pits of yawning darkness. An empty, hollow thing as she called upon her Lady’s power, deep within the Shadowfell.
”You are not permitted to fall in this place.” She intoned, ”Stand resolute, for I have need of your service. I will not allow your death until our work is done.”
As she spoke, the divine energy flowed into Crucible’s form, and the pain faded. The crossbow bolts simply melted away into shadow, and the was drawn up into Juliette’s arm. The Paladin’s teeth ground together as she took the pain from him, and acted as a conduit to absorb the misery and memory of pain into her Goddess, stealing the wound so completely that when it was done, there was not even a scratch upon the Warforged’s gleaming surface.
Her eyes returned to normal a moment later, and she exhaled long and slow, breathing out through her nose. It was never a pleasant thing to ask the Lady of Loss to take away pain, but in her role she was empowered to make such requests and to have them answered. It was just that there would be a price for such. There would always be a price.
Once the work was done, however, she gave a sharp nod forward, towards the sound of splintering wood, and took one more deliberate step to place herself in front of Crucible. She was the one who deserved to take on the blows and torments of the enemy first; he was a good man who had more to his life than a relentless battle against all the world’s ills. She only hoped that he heeded her words this time.
“Stay alert.” She said, coolly, her voice once more returned to normal. “I suspect we will have company momentarily.” And if they didn’t? Then she would lead the way to the source of the sound herself.
(As discussed in Discord, Crucible takes back the spell and Juliette expends 6 points from her 15 point pool to heal him instead - 9 Lay on Hands points remain after the temp HP)

Juliette: With one fell swing you easily sever the tripwire and destroy any hope of the device operating again in the immediate future. With your effective, if not slightly terrifying, divine healing, you also successfully cleanse Crucible of his wounds.
Crucible: The healing powers of your companion remove any damage you suffered from the crossbow bolts, though the onslaught of the trap has shattered the extra confidence afforded to you earlier by Juliette’s speech. Still, the maker of the trap likely did not expect a resilient warforged to ever grace these forlorn halls.
Party: Pausing to recover what wounds were suffered, you became aware after several moments of the growing sound of shuffling feet and muffled moaning coming from the northeast hallway. Though still relatively far off, you can just make out a small mass of shadows moving just out of the light of Crucible’s shield (direction of which is signified by the red arrow on the map).

"It looks like we have company". He strained to see into the dark, wishing his light could reach just a little further. "I'll bet my left lugnut that it's more undead. Would you like to greet them in the manner to which you are accustomed?" He was sure she would say yes, and that was fine by him. He wasn't going to try to hold her back.

It wasn’t even really a question, was it?
Juliette gave the barest of nods as she strode, unafraid, towards the shifting figures. Once more, the mark of her Goddess would burn into the first one she could focus her attention upon; the darkness in which it existed being turned against it to hasten its end before the divine mission of the Paladin.
(Bonus Action to reassign Hunter's Mark on the first one she can target within 90ft before we get into combat, and then initiatives I presume?)

(Sincerely apologize for the delay on this one. In all honesty I only ever planned out the first half of this dungeon with a rough idea of the rest, and you hit that halfway point during that 2-3 week slump that I had. It's now been remedied, though, so it should be smooth sailing from here on and out and we can get this little adventure wrapped up soon hopefully!)
Party: Stumbling out of the dark passageway you see four humanoid figures. At a glance they seem…ordinary. All young to middle aged, three men and one woman, and all four are dressed in ragged threadbare clothing that has been stained with mud and refuse from living rough on the streets. Their skin seems unusually pale, sure, but…and then you notice the blood. Cracked patches of dry blood outline jagged gashes along their bodies: two of the men appear to have slit throats, the woman has a large hole in her chest, and the third man, though having no visible wounds of his own, is near red from head to toe. Despite this level of damage, they move with little difficultly (though slowly) and, spotting the two of you, let out a frenzied moan and begin to shuffle with just a little more purpose.
The head of this pack, one of the men with their throat agape, is marked by Juliette.

"Stand back," he told Juliette. Crucible moved, placing himself squarely in front of the lead zombie, and dropped his arms, exposing his chest. His pendant was aglow, burning bright with divine power. At his word, a gout of flames exploded forth, bathing the hall in divine fire.

Crucible: Your cone of magical fire rolls over the small horde of zombies. While the fourth and last shuffles just far back enough to escape your spell, the other three ignite as their burning clothing illuminates the hallway and the stench of seared flesh fills the chamber. They continue forward undeterred, however.
Zombie 4: The farthest zombie in the group, the man drenched in his own blood, lets out a howl and tries to reach the chamber, but is unable to move through the burning bundle of bodies in front of him for now.
Zombie 1: The lead zombie stumbles toward Crucible with his arms outstretched. His face, illuminated by an ignited cowl, is contorted in a look of agony as he tries to pummel the warforged.

Damage roll (if it hits): 1d6+1

To say that Juliette was less than impressed with her colleague would be an understatement. As Crucible barged forward and locked her out of effective firing position to toast the zombies, her expression darkened considerably.
"Get OUT of my way." She spat, "With this kind of monster you need to use overwhelming force or divine power. You're wasting your spells and stopping me being able to attack. Move. Aside."
(Juliette will hold her action until Crucible gets out the way so she can charge, or a zombie moves past him into striking range for her)

Zombie 3: This zombie, the woman with her chest gashed open, also attempts to rush your position, but is stopped by the mass of burning undead bodies in between.
Zombie 2: The other man with his throat slit stumbles forward, presses himself against the lead zombie, and reaches with a limp hand to try and batter away at Crucible.
Attack (with disadvantage): GgcUgZqp1d20+3 / 1d20+3
Damage (if it hits): 1d6+1
Crucible (passive perception 15): Among the chaotic din of sizzling skin and feverish moans, you become aware of the sound of additional shuffling coming from the northern passageway and, within the shadows, you can barely make out a pair of far off figures moving toward the chamber.
