Kara tensed at the elf’s touch, but held herself still, and nodded in gratitude when she felt the healing energies flow into her. She inhaled and exhaled; the wounds on her front still pained her, but the hurt was less, and she could tell less of her energy was seeping out of her. She didn’t force the mace on the elf either, but didn’t bother keeping it; the greataxe was a better choice.
Having decided that someone coming was unlikely, Kara walked back to the elf, handing him the crossbow, and went into the room to check for herself. She took the two hand axes, stashing them on herself, then went to the food. There was a full waterskin, and Kara reached for it with hands that nearly – nearly – shook. She drank almost the whole thing in a heavy gulp, only stopping when a fit of coughing overtook her. She cleared her throat, then finished it, and, after a moment of deliberation, ripped off a hunk of bread and ate it, quickly and gratefully.
Kara went back out, chewing on a piece of salted meat. She finished it, swallowing hard, and looked from the double doors in the room to the door they had come through. “Not much yet worth guarding,” she looked back to the double doors, then to the elf.

Kel'antar looked at her with quite a bit of surprise, the way she was drinking almost choking herself with water and then eating. He just stood there, and wondered what would hunger feel like. Was it like a pleasurable thing to experience, satiation? He thought so, even if it was something alien to him he garnered a slight feeling of satisfaction, with empathy, towards her after seeing her gorge on the available resources like that. With the crossbow back again in his hands he did the same thing he instinctually did the first time: Check it for faults, see that it was propely loaded. And when she come back he didn't say anything. Simply gave her a look at the comment regarding the lack of things being worth guarding, and with a nod he agreed. Two guards and nothing to guard. It didn't make sense. Sure, the privisions were a thing worth guarding. But not really that much. And the quarters... He hadn't really seen anything of value there. So he turned towards the door and tried the only key he had yet to try on. With a loud thud, he pushed the door inwards. The room inside revealed it to be another quarters except... There was a stairs leading to the south. The air in here was slightly damper, and things were darker. There was only a single witchlight torch burning in the wall giving faint, dim light to the entire place. And along the stone staircase leading down there could be seen another one in the hallway. Somewhere from the south came strange, distorted echoes of unintelligible words, and uncomprehensible sources. The only things of value in the room were clothes, bedsheets, a few bottles of something that could be asumed to be ale, and a few traveling bags, some of them half loaded with goods.

Kara glanced back at the provisions, longingly; she felt she could have eaten the rest of the loaf of bread and more besides. She shook her head; she had already drank too much water. The last thing she needed was to throw up during her next fight. The elf was staring at her; Kara looked back at him, trying to figure out why. After a moment, she went back into the store room and came out with another waterskin, offering it to him. If he didn’t take it, Kara would carry it with them. She wasn’t naive enough to think there wasn’t more blood loss to come. Kara looked at the staircase down, thinking hard. Down here or back out into the hall to check the other two rooms? She rubbed a hand over her face, her wounds throbbing. This wasn’t the part she was good at. Had they taken her up stairs after the fight? No - they had gone down. They might have moved the glaive already, but she thought it wouldn’t hurt to check the room where she had been. Slowly, Kara turned away from the staircase, looking at the elf. “Let’s -“ she gestured back at the hallway beyond the room they had come from. Better to check it first then return here. First, Kara would check the hallway; assuming she saw no one, she would carefully make her way across the hallway to open the door opposite.

Stealth! |wyyvn2q1d20+2This time it was Kel'antar's turn to arch an eyebrow and look at her with curiosity. Would they really turn back now without so much as looking what was down there, even though they both agreed it was valuable and worth guarding? They might not get another chance if things got iffy, but he guessed her judgement was that they should be making it out of there alive rather than looking for valuable things. He shrugged with a smile and then followed her back outside slowly, without so much as making a sound. Eventually they were back in the ominous hallway, this time his crossbow as leveled towards the only part of the hallway they hadn't been in. And why not the cells area? Because if anyone had already gone there the alarm would have been sounded the moment that happened, considering they just left the body lying there, like they just had done with the two people in the other common room. Kara dropped the keys and Kel'antar quickly, instinctively turned his head towards the sound only to meet the scene with her reaching down to pick them up. It would have been funnier if they weren't risking getting caught by an overwhelming amount of guards. She opened the door and what was inside revealed itself to be... A storage room with everything that had been taken from them included. Weapons, valuables, and whatever trinkets had not been individually stolen by the guards were stashed there among a plethora of other weapons, pieces of armor, and cleaning stuff. They were neatly ordered in different piles without much order. And just as they were witnessing the various items available footsteps began to be heard across the hallway along with an alerted muttering, though the voices didn't seem in any rush to go check what that was. Kel'antar pointed towards the room she had just opened and whispered. " Get in!" All so he could too quickly disappear from sight. The hallway did not yet have any sign of violent crime about it. 1d20+2

Kara made it out of the door, the wounds she’d taken throbbing worse with every step. She hoisted the waterskin beneath her arm, clutching the axe with one hand, and fumbled for the keys she’d taken from the guard. They slipped through her bloody fingers, tumbling noisily to the ground. Kara winced, rubbing her hand on her tunic and quickly picking the keys up, using them to open the door. Her eyes widened at the sight inside: her glaive, her bear claw, her javelins, all lying there on one of the heaps of stuff. Kara didn’t need any urging from the elf. She followed him into the storage room, eyes locked on her glaive. It was an act of supreme will to bring the door closed behind them, as quietly as possible, and to hold there. She told herself that the glaive was just there – it would be in her hands in a moment. All she needed to do was wait until the guards went away, wait until she wouldn’t give them away by fetching it. It was almost impossibly hard.

Kara managed to close the door stealthily enough so that it wouldn't be heard as a slam and alert the guards further. They remained there, watching, for something that seemed out of the ordinary. They found nothing and were just about to turn back when the door leading to the prison cells opened ever so slightly; as it hadn't been properly locked when closed. That called to their attention.
"Hey Ivy"
One of them said as both of them began to walk towards the prison door, soon they would pass in front of them, though the door to the deposit they were in was closed. If they were about to do something they better start doing it now, for soon the guards would uncover the woman's dead body and the lack of prisoners inside of their cells.1d20

To Kara, inside the cell, all she could hear was the footsteps stopping, silence – then a faint soft creak and one of the guards calling to the other. The footsteps picked up again. Why were they coming this way? Kara exhaled, slowly. There were no good options at this end of the hallway. She and the elf were in the closet, the door at the end led down to the empty cells and the dead guard, and the door opposite the way led to two more dead guards. Kara shifted back, grabbing her glaive from the pile and her bear claw as well, shoving it into a pocket. She focused, honing her attention on the battle to come, letting the outside world drain away. There were no choices left, only the battle to come. She left the axe behind and sprang forward, past the elf, opening the door and bursting out into the hallway at the loudest moment of the footsteps. The glaive mattered more than stealth and surprise; they would be fighting soon enough no matter what.

Kel'antar IiB|awAS1d20+2 Evildoer 1 1d20+3 Evildoer 2 1d20 Kel'antar seized the chance to grab his shield again, and then decided to take a dagger instead of the mace that had ended up being added to the stash. It was the kind of simple weapon he could wield effectively. He wasn't really a strong fighter in close quarters. Thus it was a good weapon to fall back on. He hoped that the magic he would attempt to cast on their foes have better results than the first time around, but this time at least he had another thing to fall back upon and, when Kara exited the door he followed shortly afterwards with the shield and dagger in hand, leaving the crossbow to hang at his back along with the bolts, secured to his body.
Just as Kara ran out of the door one of the guards was first to react, an average sized man, bald and with a scar across his chin unsheathed his weapon of choice: A curve sword faster than she could see and immediately sought to attack her with two slashes coming from his sword. It was the fastest that he could react, too. Near him another guard, a taller man was just beginning to unsheathe his sword by the time the actions of the first were being resolved. The first one was armored with sturdy looking studded leather, while the second one had a plain old leather armor, and his weapon of choice was a hand axe.
The man in front of her unsheated a dagger from his belt with his left hand, and in the same movement, swung both of her with great alacrity.

The man swung at her, three times, twice with the sword and once with his dagger. The first blow hit, a surprise strike that curved into her and ripped at her flesh. Kara dodged the second one, but she couldn’t get out of the way of the dagger, and it slashed her open as well.
Kara swung her glaive at the man with the curved sword, furiously, throwing every ounce of her strength into the blows. She could already tell that this was a fight for which no less would be enough.

The second man, farther away tried to close the distance to them and make a run for it however Kara swiftly delivered a blow with the end of it's blade and pushed him back. Kel'antar was really willing to go out and fight in the melee this time as well but it just couldn't be. At least not with Kara in front of him. The passageway was narrow and going through would mean that Kara would have to move, and possibly that would bring her some trouble, and that was not something he was willing to do considering she was holding her own against two opponents at the same time. Instead, he sheathed the dagger taking up the crossbow again. Kel'antar took aim and decided to shoot at the man that he had a clear line of sight of, the bald one with the scar. Crossbow bolt at evildoer #1u83KeWZz1d20+2Damage!1d20+2This time his aim was true and the arrow flew straight at him, lodging itself in one of his arms. The second man saw this and immediately searched for a whistle that was hanging from his belt. At the same time, the first man retaliated. The dagger ha had in his hand he threw against Kel'antar, before trying to catch Kara with his sword. The elf retaliated by summoning his magic, making an intense bright light shine just in front of his eyes, so close it was touching them for a split second. Nonetheless, the dagger reached it's mark. Kara saw the whistle. She didn’t like to leave the elf unprotected, but she didn’t see how she had a choice. The high fury of the battle whistled through her; the man with the scar sliced at her twice, the first attack catching her and the second just missing. Kara moved five feet diagonally, keeping herself between the two men – if the one with the scar went for the elf, she would at least have a chance of stopping him – and brought her glaive around with all the force she could muster in the narrow hallway, aiming three heavy strikes at the less-armored man. If he called out – if more guards came – they wouldn’t stand a chance.
The first strike ripped across his body, parting the leathers of his armor almost as if they weren't there. Kara spun the weapon and brought the glaive across his thigh for the second strike, biting deep into the big muscles and arteries there, then whipped it around one last time, blood flying from the blade as the butt of the weapon slammed into his throat, crushing his windpipe and sending him collapsing to the ground.

The bald man turned his attention just in time to see his companion getting obliterated by a series of strikes before he had a chance to blow the whistle, and he immediately moved to where his fallen companion had been avoiding being in line of sight of the elf with the crossbow. He was now standing just in front of Kara, with one swift movement he reached over to where the dead man had dropped his weapon and picked it up for himself. And from here he attacked her again.
