History:
Gwendolyn grew up isolated from the larger Faerûn, hidden away in a peaceful, isolated village deep within its forests. Her most common company was that of other fey and fey-adjacent beings, knowing nothing of the outside world beyond stories and books. Though she never really knew her parents, the village was incredibly warm to her, and she never truly felt the sting of not having a parent. She did, however, yearn to know how they lived and what they were like. To this end, the village elders were more than happy to supply her with all sorts of tales of their exploits, and that of her ancestors as well. They spoke, in particular, of their alliance with Waterdeep spearheaded by an ancestor and a great elven hero. Inspired by these, Gwendolyn decided to take up the sword, intent on being someone worthy of her legacy.
However, with this intent came a warning. Her legacy was old and had made more enemies than allies, and her markings were at once a boon and a burden. Though their friends were loyal, their enemies were cunning and insidious, and could easily undermine them. Though the young centaur wasn't so hot-headed as to not heed their warnings, she did not wish to live in fear of the future and began venturing outside of her village. She would meet with humanoids in small villages along the Sword Coast, honing her skills and helping the locals. The centaur warrior was eager to learn and grow, experience the world and learn of the people in the stories. Each time, she returned with a new tale, happily recounting her deeds to her friends.
But the peaceful dream shattered in an instant. One day, Gwendolyn returned to find her village razed to the ground, with the culprits nowhere to be seen. They arrived like a flash and left just as quickly, destroying their homes and taking many lives. There was no warning, and no help ever arrived. Their supposed alliance with Waterdeep was apparently worthless, seeing as no relief was sent even when requested.
Gwendolyn would take matters into her own hands and set out herself, swearing to find answers for the sake of those murdered.
Personality:
Stalwart, loyal, and with a will of iron, Gwendolyn paints the picture of a stereotypical paladin. She prefers to fight with honour and values life above all else. However, she is a lot more than just a noble defender of life. She is an emotional soul and enjoys the finer pleasures of life, such as good food and beautiful landscapes. She has something of a whimsical nature and can be quite mischievous if the mood strikes her. Despite this, though, she hides a great deal of inner turmoil, uncertain if she'll be able to bring her foes to justice. Memories of her dead loved ones haunt her dreams and memories, and she can snap if pushed in the right way.

Choose or randomly determine your inheritance from among the possibilities in the table below. Work with your DM to come up with details: Why is your inheritance so important, and what is its full story? You might prefer for the DM to invent these details as part of the game, allowing you to learn more about your inheritance as your character does.
The DM is free to use your inheritance as a story hook, sending you on quests to learn more about its history or true nature, or confronting you with foes who want to claim it for themselves or prevent you from learning what you seek. The DM also determines the properties of your inheritance and how they figure into the item's history and importance. For instance, the object might be a minor magic item, or one that begins with a modest ability and increases in potency with the passage of time. Or, the true nature of your inheritance might not be apparent at first and is revealed only when certain conditions are met.
When you begin your adventuring career, you can decide whether to tell your companions about your inheritance right away. Rather than attracting attention to yourself, you might want to keep your inheritance a secret until you learn more about what it means to you and what it can do for you.
The inheritance comes in the form of invisible body markings that light up whenever Gwendolyn casts a spell or uses a class feature.
