History:
Born to a relatively regular family of tieflings in Waterdeep, Guardia spent most of her time learning her parents’ key skills. Her mother training her in dance and music, while her father taught her ‘defense mechanisms’, and a few more hands-on skills.
What was more obscured to her family and herself, was the actual previous career of her father. He himself was an orphan, abandoned to a sympathetic temple, where he was taught many fighting disciplines. He was sent into the world to carry out the more dangerous or violent tasks that presented themselves to the temple.
It seemed his freedom was shorter lived than he’d hoped, reminded politely by mail, then forcefully by a physical presence approaching him at the bar, that he should return for the good of the world.
Guardia would much rather have him home, and, digging up his letters, made her way to various monasteries and temples she thought could possibly know of him. Nobody seemed to know anything at all, so Guardia kept her ear to the ground, eventually finding traces of her father in a tavern frequented by adventurers and those who followed up on quests.
After some small back alley fights and various traps, she caught up to her father, sent out on a mission for the ‘greater good’, or something. She quietly crept up on him while he was on watch, and finally got a straight answer from him, after almost two decades.
Now feeling less like he must hide his duty, Guardia’s father often comes home when he needs time to rest and recuperate. He also can’t argue with Guardia about heading out on her own to find adventure, especially after her first taste of it in tracking him down and assisting (being protected by) the group he’d gone out with.
She uses and sometimes expands upon the lessons her father taught her, often waiting for him to come home to learn more.
Personality:
Guardia is somewhat jovial. She is very protective towards her mother, who works as a dancer, and her father. For those she cares about, she would gladly run into danger, but wouldn’t risk anything for strangers unless there was a clear reason. Adventure could be one, but so could money.
That’s not to say she doesn’t get into reckless fights. So long as she believes she could win, Guardia is happy to make a mess. She quite enjoys it, even.
Although heavily aligned with the female gender, she doesn’t perceive herself as a woman, and feels disconnected with that aspect of femininity that her mother seems to have so much of.
Guardia is naturally interested in getting out there and doing things, every new experience is like a rush of energy she needs to survive, from the first punch she threw at her father, to the first view of a deep dungeon - it keeps her restless if she doesn’t at least know when she is next going somewhere.
Among strangers, she seems a little too lighthearted, usually moving around Waterdeep on handmade shoes with wheels screwed under the soles. She greets most people on the street, doing odd jobs for pocket money and to better support her family.
