Without any notice, one of the smaller wolves broke the tree line, at first making a beeline for the small creature but, realising there was a potentially larger kill not too far off, it pounced at Iados, taking a quick bite at his side. It pulled at him, trying to topple him to the ground.

Quickly after this, the largest wolf followed suit, turning its attention to the largest threat, leaping at Kara with a feral but practised ferocity.

Kara split her gaze between the goblin girl’s card readings and scanning the woods. Her glaive was still in her hands, and she steadily polished the dust from it, until it gleamed and shone.
The first wolf lunged for Iados.
The second came for Kara. She thrust the sharp blade of her glaive out, and it ripped into the wolf, stopping him briefly in his tracks.
“Stay with me,” Kara said to Enchee, her voice and rough, almost a bear like growl. She inhaled and exhaled deeply. The world melted away, and she found the rhythm of battle, a deep trance like state in which she knew no fear, and no pain; there was nothing but focus, and the enemy and the battlefield around her.
Kara held her position, ten feet from the wolf, and thrust out twice with her blade, slashing at him with the heavy metal of the glaive, throwing her whole self into the attacks.

Before the wolves made their appearance, Zelphar was already equipping himself with the longbow that hung on his back. He wasn't sure if the others picked up on the noise, but he had no time to warn them. He moved in a calm yet graceful manner, and already had an arrow in hand by the time the the first two wolves made their move. He wasn't fast enough to drill them before they attacked, luckily it seemed like Kara was having no problem dealing with the larger one. It looked like two members of the pack were a bit slower on the charge, the Shadar-Kai was determined to take at least one of them out.
Grasping the longbow in his left hand, he quickly pulled on the bowstring with the arrow in place. Zelphar closed one eye in concentration, and lined up with his target before releasing the projectile at one of the slower wolves.
