Miri adjusted the googles of night around her neck, glancing up at Solstice’s driftglobe with a grin. “Very handy,” she said. A bit impractical for certain tasks, Miri thought, glancing around, and rather like a beacon indicating to anything nasty inside the house rather precisely where they were – but, then again, Miri thought it quite likely, given the little door stunt, that their location was already thoroughly well known.
And, glancing at Solstice, Miri thought – well, the firbolg, lovely as she was, couldn’t exactly have said to be stealthy. In fact, Miri saw rather more than a few advantages to having the paladin on her side; she could think of more than a few ways to use both her and the light source. To their mutual advantage, of course. Obviously.
“Well, hello,” Miri said, curiously, stopping in front of the demonic statues, hand on her hips. She hummed to herself, tilting her head to the side, and examining the statues curiously, hands locked behind her back to keep curious fingers at bay, at least for now.

K ieran 'd hardly made it down the stairs to snoop elsewhere, glancing over his tattooed shoulder one more time to note that the windows didn't acquiesce to either of Miri's varied attempts to open them. Arching a pale brow at Anthony as if to express his surprise at the strangeness of it all, the half-drow frowned slightly, but chose to not make a comment about whether or not he considered the invitation worthwhile.
His frown didn't fade at the flare of light, looking away from it and making sure to keep out of its brightest reach even as he made his way back to the other three, shifting his grip on his quarterstaff and joining his companions,
"I'd prefer a sense 'f humor that's not like any wild wizards 'n alleys, that's for damn sure." He murmured, though only Miri would get the joke, "An' while I don't need that light t' see, I guess th' rest 'f you do."
Inside the foyer, nothing dropped from the ceiling or crawled from the darkness to attack them. It seemed, as far as Kieran could tell, to be a rather normal enough space, though black marble was, in his opinion, not the most currently fashionable choice of floor decor. His violet gaze wandered over the rather demonic statues,
"Those look friendly." The half-drow hummed, nearly smiling, deciding someone had to step into the room and see what happened, after all. Making sure to stay just out of the dim, torch-like glow of Solstice's sphere, Kieran moved toward the statues behind Miri, choosing to stand a bit closer to the left one and noting that beyond them were just ... stairs ... instead of a door,
"Not even a damn coat rack. Jus' some threatenin' statues. Guess this 's th' kinda welcome we should be expectin'." He chuckled, glancing down for any signs that the floor was trapped before stepping between them to check the stairs beyond—
He'd learned to be wary of stairs, after all.
Investigation, even if the odds are never in Kieran's favor:

Kieran, despite his efforts, could not pick out anything noteworthy about the statues themselves. Miri's keen eye could note that they are finely crafted, the attention to detail pretty accurate. Solstice stared at the statues, but also beyond them, trying to see if they're being watched (because of course they are, this is a haunted house). Kieran didn't get very far, however. The moment he crossed between the statues, chaos erupted with a vengeance. "Welcoming, aren't they? Do you see anything--" The tall firbolg looked down, alarmed as the hairs on the back of her neck rose, a tip-off from the sword she carried. "Wait--!" That always meant imminent danger, and she was proven right a moment later as the statues came to life, their eyes suddenly taking on a malevolent glow as they each swiped at the nearest party members; Miri and Kieran. Miri was looking directly at the statue, but she was busy examining some small detail, leaning unfortunately close. At the word 'Wait' from Solstice, she jerked back, her gaze lifting. The statue's eyes began to glow, and it shifted towards her with deliberate, malicious intent.
"Oh, hello!" Miri said, cheerfully. She was already moving, short sword in hand, chanting the words for the spell booming blade.
Whether the attack hit or not, she would promptly retreat backwards, rejoining Solstice at the door, and conveniently managing to nudge herself just behind the paladin, keeping the (much-larger) firbolg between herself and the statue.

Anthony was in the back of the group when they entered the room. His helmet was more than capable of picking out details in the dark, negating the need for a light source. He had lingered outside for a moment, taking one last good look around, before joining the party inside. The place seemed sort of cozy, if it didn't seem so creepy. The rest of the party seemed to share in his assessment (the creepiness, at least), and were searching the room carefully. But none of them were ready for the statues to come to life, taking a swipe at the nearest intruders. He was quick to react though, as the magical capacitors in his arm prepared to discharge. A simple thought was all it took to direct the arcane sigiltry in the artificial appendage, selecting an element and priming an attack in an instant. A split second later and his hand was up, directing a firebolt at the Gargoyle that had attacked Miri.

Gonna roll first, then write. Kieran, as a Ranger, has advantage against all enemies that have not yet acted that turn. He will be attacking the opposite gargoyle statue to Miri and Anthony.
BA: Hunter's Mark, +1d6 damage to chosen target (gargoyles; can change targets after one is defeated without spending another BA)
Action: Quarterstaff: uarHlF4R1d20+6 or 1d20+6
If it hits, damage: 1d8+3 + 1d6
Edited to add: That's a total of 14 damage. 1d20+6·1d20+6·1d8+3·1d6

W hile the half-drow didn't see anything particularly suspicious around the statues or their bases, the moment he began to pass the imaginary threshold between the pair of foreboding creatures toward the stairs to further investigate (unaware of how poorly he was, once again, even paying attention), he felt the shift of the situation instinctually. Granted, Anthony and Miri obviously had a clearer view of the statues coming to life over his shoulder, and as their bodies moved and the flash of fire flared in his darkvision, Kieran turned and spoke a single word—mine—as his violet gaze came back into focus on the statue closest to him, marking the beasts as his targets.
With all his usual swift skill when it came to violence, the half-drow turned and leapt at the statue, swinging his quarterstaff with both hands to connect—hard—with their now-animated attackers,
"Well, I always did appreciate a warm welcome, but this wasn't 't all what I had 'n mind. Shouldn't 've expected anythin' less, really." Kieran hissed through his teeth as he changed his footing and relaxed into a loose and ready defensive stance, clearly more comfortable in the middle of combat than poking around looking for clues. HP: 45 / 40 (+5 HPs from Aid) AC: 17 Ki: 3 / 3 Bonus Action, taken first: Favored Foe: Cast Hunter's Mark, (2 out of 3 uses remaining) Action: Quarterstaff, with Advantage (Natural Explorer) Spells Prepared: Cure Wounds, Ensnaring Strike, Hunter's Mark, Dancing Lights, Darkness, and Faerie Fire

Kieran's assault was the only initial bout of attacks to land an effective strike. Anthony's shot went too wide, and Miri's blow didn't manage to pierce that thick hide, but the ranger/monk's blow was both accurate and forceful enough to . The struck gargoyle snarled and uttered some words in Terran to its companion before taking a swipe at the half-drow with its claws before going in for a bite.
The other gargoyle bounded over and landed hard enough to cause the floor to tremble, at Kieran's other side, likewise lashing out as quickly as possible. Solstice's impressed whistle at Kieran's blows died down as she soon saw the danger of his position. Well, the gargoyles weren't the only ones capable of ganging up and using some teamwork. Drawing her sword, the firbolg took advantage of their distraction to surprise the gargoyle Kieran had already wounded, calling out to the others. "Quick, all attack the same one before they get the chance to keep doing the same to us!"
