The sun was still beating down relentlessly on the citizens that walked the streets of Waterdeep. While many thought that the rays were cruel to pain them so, Doran felt their pain and more. Any time it was warm he had thought about going without armor, as the last thing he wanted was to be baked to death under it. Not that the cold was much better. Once frost set into the links of the mail, they would pierce all his clothing, sapping all of his heat. Even when the heat was not that incredible, he could still feel it. Though, unlike many of those that just wandered the city, no one would ever hear him complain about it. It was but a part of his job, one that he saw as required to fulfill his role.
There was little going on in this northern part of the city, away from the busy port that was always awake. It was only an hour afternoon, most people were returning from their homes where they had eaten lunch. Doran had made no such plans and just did his rounds, as he always did. Waterdeep was a large city and it was good to have ears everywhere. There was no telling what lurked in the shadows. Anything could be there, sending out its darkness and pulling unsuspecting individuals into it.
Normally, his rounds were done in silence. Not many spoke to him unless there was a conflict and they wanted his help to put an end to it. Otherwise, he just wandered and watched his surroundings. This day, his round was interrupted by a shout from on the main street. There was an altercation going on, though by what Doran could see, it was nothing physical, only verbal for now. So that he could get a better view of what was going on, he pushed his way through the onlookers, intrigued by what was happening. And there he saw what looked to be a young nobleman and his bodyguard, arguing with a tabaxi. It all appeared to be very hostile, and so Doran did the only thing he knew to do.

"What's going on here?" He asked, hoping to wedge himself between the two parties.
