It had already been quite a few days since their last meeting at the beach and later at her house. And those had been a couple of good days, except during the night time as he slept, but that was another matter entirely. Those thoughts were by then being dispelled by the first rays of sunlight but left him with only a strange feeling of fleeting emptiness. A great thing about living in the forest, or rather, the outskirks of the city was that he was not bothered by anyone and could just be himself with his own thoughts. It was hard to put into words what was going on inside him, at least for someone like him. That often led him into blundering some of his social interactions though not all of them. For a while ha had been considering moving inside the city and living there, with the amount of money he was making in the arena it wouldn't be unaffordable. In fact, anyone that did not know him well could just make the argument that he was so greedy he didn't even want to spend money on lodging. The truth was different, however.
As he walked through the streets he had no rush whatosever, taking in the time to watch the folks running about and going on about their daily businesses. He imagined what would their lives be like, and then tried to imagine himself living a similar life, a normal life, having a steady profession that allowed him to remain in one place and not worry about being killed sooner or later in a place where no man ever reached seniority before dying to some stranger's blade. Or worse, a non-stranger's blade. Those kind of questions led him back to a familiar place, to a sense of longing unfulfilled that was now being leveraged against him by that entity in his dreams. Did he really belong here? Could he really settle?
Just as daylight usually dispelled the darkest of his thoughts, Thea's place did the same to the current ones as he suddenly began to worry about more mundane, immediate things. Was he properly dressed? He should be, he had taken care of his clothes and they were in pretty good condition. He had chosen once again to carry the smaller sword instead of the big one, simply because it was less of a clumsy thing to carry around. And no, he wouldn't go without a weapon around the streets. Sooner or later he knew he would need it and it was much better to have a sword at hand and not need it than to need it and not have it. Greenglade's tower struck him as an odd place, was it a place where magicians stayed at or had he gotten it wrong? He wondered what kind of things did they do that warranted being all clammered down in the same place like they were some kind of disease.
After walking inside and nodding to the door person.
And then walked upstairs to where Thea was staying, knocking on her door modestly a few times.
