“Crucible!!”
Enchee opened the door between their rooms without so much as announcing her sudden pushing of it, but she certainly made her entrance pretty clear when she shouted out her big friend’s name. She was halfway through carefully brushing and combing her hair, one half unruly and about twice as wide as the goblin’s little head, the other an almost natural volume. Almost.
“Crucible!! I’ve got something to show you but we have to go like, right after I’m finished, okay? It’s not too farrrrr!” She seemed extremely excited about it, bounding over to him with her usual restless energy. She’d been inside most of the day, which was unusual for Enchee. Earlier she had gone to scope out where she was taking Crucible, since her normal way of getting there would have required him to shrink a good few sizes before he’d be able to follow. But she’d figured out the normal way to approach Thond Glass and Glazing, the one that didn’t involve getting into tiny gaps, climbing up walls and zipping down empty side paths. As she explained just about nothing to Crucible, she was dragging her hands through her hair, pulling apart big knots so she could brush it without any real pain. “It’s in the Trades Ward, so uh. Yeah.”
While she was inside, she’d spent a lot of time trying to build a house out of her cards, which some people may have found a disrespectful misuse of something that was clearly magical. Enchee thought it was extremely frustrating, but it certainly occupied her for a long time. It didn’t, however, have her running around outside, so she was bouncing off the walls. Mostly figuratively.

Crucible looked up from his table, having been in the middle of fixing a loose strap on his shield. He returned his pliers to the compartment in his arm as he leaned back in his chair. While a quick cantrip could easily fix the damage, he enjoyed taking the time to do it manually. Like a form of prayer, honoring Moradin. "Well Enchee, once you fix the rays nest of hair you have, I would be more than honored to escort you on this adventure".

“Are you saying I’m not already perfect?” She laughed, finally tugging her hand free from the mess. She ran back into her room for a brief moment, before returning in the doorway with a brush to, again, drag through her hair. “How could you!?” While she would have loved to pull it from scalp to root, she at least knew better than rushing through a job when it came to her hair. Her mother had usually put it up after she brushed it, but in truth she didn’t know how to do that herself. She’d also grown used to it falling around her now. It had always been a miraculous kind of problem, seeming to vary in texture, almost as if it were a patchwork of different, and importantly, not just goblin hair, which was either straight and greasy, or, when old enough, thin, wiry, and going in every direction. Of course, Enchee’s hair was straight, it was curly, it was thick, it was everything. At least it was easy to keep straight at the front, or she’d end up with very... interesting bangs.

Crucible laughed as he finished putting away his tools, neatly storing them away. "I wouldn't dare insinuate that a princess is less than perfect!" He stood, leaving his shield wear it lay on the table. "But even a princess has to brush her hair in the morning". He didn't have anything planned for the day, other than his daily repair and prayer. Luckily he had started early in the morning (many would call it night), and his Shuler had been the last of it. "What kind of surprise do you have in store?"

“A good one! That’s all I can tell you! Or else it would be ruined!” She dragged the brush down carefully, and moved to the next section. “Okay okay! Fine! Here’s a clue... I set it up yesterday!” She wasn’t sure to what extent Crucible knew what she was up to the day before, she’d said she was going out, and when she came home she had a box of cookies with her, but that was... it. Oh well.
It only took a few minutes, but her hair was just about right, and to be honest, it stopped mattering after the top was smoothed down and it had shrunk down, it may have still been a little tangled, but it would only get worse the second she stepped outside the building. Magic hair, magic hair. She dropped the brush down on her bed, and scooped up her friend Queso to put in her pocket.
“All set! Are you ready?”

Crucible did not, in fact, know what Enchee had been up to the day before. His day was spent at the market, and he was trying to let Enchee have freedom. Nevertheless, he was curious what surprise was to come. He checked over his sparse belongings once more, then nodded. "I'm as ready as I can be. Lead the way."

Enchee practically jumped out the building, clearly very excited, if it wasn’t totally evident already. She waited outside the door, though, for Crucible, so she could take his hand. She was small, and there were lots of people in Waterdeep who might just get her lost, so she wanted to grab on as she pulled him towards her friend, her new friend, just as promised.
She was worried about maybe being a bit early, or worse, way too late, but she had no real way to be sure. Sunset, just after, walking to the right place on her legs? It would probably take just about as long as it was, which was, uh. Yeah. Something.
But she had managed the right time, by blind luck mostly. And the second Enchee caught sight of Thea, it was already totally so over for her, there was zero escape from Enchee. She let go of Crucible’s hand, and just started sprinting. Then she hopped up and jumped onto Thea, the biggest grin on her tiny little green face. “Hello!!” Enchee near-yelled. She had no interest in the consequences of her actions, only in impulses that took over her entire body, and running around. The duality of child.

Thea had first met Enchee on one of her first days out and about in Waterdeep – but Enchee hadn’t exactly made the best impression, and honestly it had never occurred to Thea to try and track the little goblin down. Still, when she’d run into her the day before, Thea hadn’t been able to help but stop and chat, and in that hour or so that she’d knelt on the street with her, Enchee had thoroughly wormed her way into Thea’s heart.
Thea felt quite determined now; if Enchee didn’t show up today, she decided, she would comb the streets of Waterdeep and – somehow – she would find the sweet little goblin sorcerer and the metal man she was living with. She would know – she needed to know – that Enchee was taken care of. And, very seriously, she wanted to help Enchee learn how to read. She would probably be a better student than Dom had been, if only because she might be more focused.
So it came that Thea had gotten up very early that morning to start work, and had worked straight through lunch, wanting to finish everything she needed to be doing early enough to justify leaving before sunset. Since she would be meeting Enchee’s guardian, she had even brought a change of clothes, and was wearing something a bit nicer than her usual tunic while waiting: a long dark blue skirt, loose and floor length, with sturdy boots beneath in case of walking, and a flowy gray blouse, tucked in at the waist of the skirt. The whole outfit secured with a broad pale blue belt. There was no apparent breeze, but one tugged at her thick white hair anyway, making it dance about her head; the whole outfit only highlighted the icy blue of her skin. She wore a small satchel, with notebooks and pencils and a small primer for reading that she’d found tucked inside.
Thea was just turning precisely the wrong way to see Crucible and Enchee when Enchee spotted her, and it was an utter surprise to Thea when Enchee sprinted over and leapt onto her. Thea let out a yelp and went down, landing beneath Enchee on the ground in a surprised tangle of limbs.

Crucible arrived a moment later, a smile on his face. The sunlight gleamed on the steel plates that made up his body. Dark wood peeked out from the few gaps in the armor, though the wood beneath was hard and far from a weak point. Despite the weight of what looked to be almost a hundred pounds of steel, he moved with natural ease. Warm brass eyes glimmered in the sunset as he offered Thea a hand. "I assume you and Enchee have met before. Otherwise I'm sorry, and I promise she wasn't robbing you." His laugh almost hid the worry in his voice.

“Thea! Thea! This is Crucible!” She did her part getting her up, pushing rather than pulling. “Also, hi.” She sniggered, giving her a quick pat on the shoulder.
Enchee had never intended not to show up. She made a promise and she didn’t cross her fingers behind her back, so she was going to keep it. She was happy to see that her friend had decided to show, on the contrary to Thea’s worries, Enchee secretly had a thought that the genasi wouldn’t be where she said, or she’d be late. That said, she had a backup plan if it went wrong. She had an old goblin nest around here, she could drag Crucible there to show him that, maybe. She still liked them, anyway.
She had refrained from looking into the future to figure out what would happen today. No cards, she just chose to not interpret her dreams, which she had now forgotten completely. Something about stew. She’d definitely grab some for dinner, so, probably.
“This is my friend! She’s the surprise.” She whisper shouted to Crucible about the surprise part. For a goblin kid who ran around and stole things, she wasn’t very discreet.

The streets of the Trades Ward were kept clean, and it hadn’t rained in the last few days. Therefore, when Thea clasped Crucible’s hand and accepted his help back to her feet – with a little extra help from Enchee – she was only mildly dirtied, rather than smeared with mud and filth.
“Oh,” Thea’s eyes went wide as she finally took in the warforged. She looked at Enchee, then back at Crucible. Made of metal. A warforged. Thea had – heard of them, but she had never seen one before, much less met one socially. Between that, the faint throbbing in her elbow and what felt like a bruise on her hip, Thea felt rather –
Thankfully, years of training in polite society took over. Thea smiled at Enchee, then smiled at Crucible. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Crucible,” Thea said, cheerfully. “My name is Thea Baring, and, yes, Enchee and I are good friends,” she grinned down at the little goblin, thrilled at the label and more than happy to claim it.
“Not that you asked, Enchee, but yes, I’m fine,” Thea wrinkled her nose at the little goblin, her tone light and cheerful. She brushed at some dry dirt on her skirt, cleaning herself off easily enough. Her hair seemed to shake the dirt out itself, the breeze in it doing the work for her.

"Well I'm glad to hear you are unharmed", he replied. "Enchee, I assume you had more planned for the day than just an awkward introduction?" He didn't mind meeting Enchees friends, but he wasn't expecting to be thrown into a conversation with a stranger.
"If I'm correct, most races of this world normally are hungry about now, are they not? I'd be more than happy to escort the two of you to a meal".

“I know you’re fine, otherwise you would be dead.” Enchee stated, emotionlessly.
“No that was my entire plan actually.” She grabbed on to Thea’s hand, still sort of deadpan. “Buuuuut I could eat. Thanks d- Crucible.”
Enchee wouldn’t have minded the slip, but not in front of Thea. Thea was cool. She didn’t want her to think she wasn’t too! And she didn’t know of any cool people who said stuff like dad. Well, she didn’t really know anyone who would fit in the criteria anyway, but it made sense to her little goblin brain. Another part of her struggled a little not to associate that word with the goblin. She didn’t want to unassociate it, either, but it felt very singular. It didn’t feel right to move on. Or maybe it just didn’t feel right to move on... yet.
Either way, she grabbed Crucible’s hand, too, dragging Thea if she had to.

Thea raised an eyebrow, looking down at Enchee at that little deadpan comment, then up at Crucible, both eyebrows lifting, the look on her face more amused than upset.
“Ah – well – ” Thea blinked. “That would be very kind of you, Crucible. My treat,” she said, quite firmly, and gave Enchee’s hand a squeeze. “Actually, I had asked Enchee to introduce us – I hope that’s all right? I didn’t expect – well – “ Thea flashed them each another smile, and followed along after Enchee.
“Enchee, do you know where you’re going?” Thea started to giggle, amused by the mental image of a warforged and an air genasi being dragged down the street by a fiercely determined goblin.

Crucible feigned almost being dragged off his feet as the little girl started to drag him along. "No please, allow me. Moradin has seen fit to bless my coin purse as of late. Consider it a thank you for offering her such positive guidance". He wouldn't outright say it, but he was glad to see Enchee spending time with a more reputable crowd. Enchee had a way of ingratiating herself with others, and it seemed Thea was no exception.
