The Orc's warcry was quite something as it echoed effortlessly across the arena with rage in his eyes, he wasn't sure whether it was his belief in his foul gods or his own thirst for blood that which made him much more fierce now but the result couldn't be questioned, after the sight of his own blood and the taste of his own pain the Orc gained strength anew and began a series of offensive blows towards Arioch that was even faster than last time, time after time hitting him against his half-plate and his sword those blows he could manage to "parry" or block with the side of his weapon.
The first one to connect was a slash across his body that shrieked with the sound of metal being scratched as a bent was made and he could feel the faintest trail of blood inside of his own armor; and the second one was against his legs, still covered by the half-plate. He only managed to barely move it away to avoid the full force of the blow but it still hurt, threatening to send him off balance for a second before he managed to regain it and in a fit of rage he charged at the Orc wildly swinging his blade with broad strokes looking to chop him to pieces regardless of whatever the Orc was doing at the moment forcing him on the defense and trying to overpower him with brute force and speed just like he had him.
And once again; his blade tasted flesh, green flesh and red blood after the terrible sound that metal made when it was broken.

((Daaaaang this is crazy))
Arioch’s blade bit deep into the orc yet again. The creature stumbled, once, blood spilling freely onto the sands, and growled, a low, rumbling sound that seemed to come from somewhere deep inside him. This – this was what he had been made for, the moment when time slowed down and nothing existed but the battle before you. He knew well that he was close to death, but that death would be of his own choosing. He would rather fight and die today than yield; there was no honor to the gods in yielding, at least not as compared to a last stand.
The orc summoned every last ounce of his strength, the handle of the great axe clutched tightly in his hands, and lunged towards Arioch. His body was weak, but his mind, his will? They were as strong as ever, and he gave all the strength he had left towards seeing the fight through.
His axe bit down into Arioch, one vicious blow digging deep into his chest and ripping through, and a second swinging back across his stomach. The orc felt the strength of the blows, felt his greataxe crack Arioch open like a clam, and knew – if this was his end, he would gladly die for such a fight. There was no shame left in him for his earlier mistake; he was all redeemed now, and glad of it.

It was at the end, it was at that time that their wills were pitted against each other. Their resolutions. Arioch knew the Orc wouldn't yield it was not something the best could comprehend, and wouldn't accept no yield either. So much he didn't even factor in what would he do if the Orc yielded. It was not something that would happen. Steel clashed and blood flowed, crimson sparks blooming tiny red flowers onto the sand; steaming with the warmth of life leaving both their bodies as their breaths became heavier and took on a white mist of their own. And with a final growl the Orc poured all his might into two attacks, one of them the fiercest Arioch had felt yet in his entire life. He felt the armor crack with the most unpleasant sound, and also the stinging, unbelievable pain that shot through his entire body as the blade carved through him making a deep cut all the way through. Air escaped his lungs and he stumbled back. Fear crept into his mind, he thought about yielding. It was less than a thought, it happened faster than a thought. But he knew the Orc wouldn't accepted. His strength was failing him. The corners of his vision was getting blurry, as darkness crept in, maybe this would be how he died after all. The stench of the Orcs breath reached his nose, the stain of blood and the metallic flavor making it's way to his throat and his mouth. And as he looked at the Orc in front of him it surged from within him, like a tidal wave. From within his chest, a burning sensation opening outwards, burning down the nerves on his body all the way to his limbs; blood spluttered out from his chest echoing his own warcry. He heard echoing within his mind, not a wordless plea but a command and a sweet request at the same time. A voice he'd never heard of but at the same time sounded so familiar. His hands moved almost on his own as time slowed down a time only shared between the orc and him. The only thing they would ever share. In slow motion his own blade ran across the greataxe's edge, sparks flying outwards as he pushed the weapon aside advancing; in one sweeping motion his blade found the Orc's arm just above the elbow and cut through it. Following the way of his strike felt natural, his own body rotated with it and placed even more strength behind the blow and as he did so he thrusted the entirety if the weapon inside and through the Orcs chest with such force that it lifted him up from the ground... and violently brought him down again with a thunderous hit bringing the full force of his body down on him as well. He still held the blade firmly with both hands as it sank deeper into him, and watched his eyes from up close, watched him die. Shared those final moments with him without looking away, even as he was struggling to remain concious. And when the last breath escaped his tusked mouth, then he stood up again, covered in blood both his opponent and his own. A few moments, for the crowd to cheer. As they roared even louder silencing, every other sound around for miles he presented his sword to them. An offering as old as time. Except it wasn't directed to them; it was pointing at Thea and Pip. An acknwoledgment of sorts, hidden to everyone but them... He turned back, walking back slowly towards the barred gate that would now be opening as the commentators and announcers made their speeches. Arioch headed towards the medical place, where his wounds would be treated and he would be able to rest for the next fight.

Pip and Thea were both screaming as Arioch and the orc charged one another for the final time. Arioch had seemed so strong before the orc slashed him – and then the orc’s axe bit deep into his chest, and Thea thought for a moment he would collapse on the spot. Pip was gripping her arm so tightly it hurt, the younger girl’s knuckles bright white from the pressure of the grip. And then – Arioch lifted his sword and drove it through the chest of the orc. For a moment, Thea didn’t recognize him, couldn’t see her friend in the man fighting in the arena below. The orc fell, and Arioch with him, and for a moment Thea thought he might not rise again. But he did. Arioch rose and turned, lifting the blade of his sword towards Pip and Thea. Thea sank back down into her seat, Pip still screaming and jumping up and down next to her. Thea's hand was clenched tightly over the necklace Arioch had left with her, and she realized after a moment that she was shaking, violently. “HE DID IT!” Pip screamed, practically dancing about. “HE DID IT!” “WHAT A FIGHT, FOLKS!” The announcer was screaming aloud with the crowd. This was the sort of fight they liked – bloody, nasty and dramatic, with a moment at the end there where it was hard to tell who would win and who would lose. The medic team was bringing the orc out, but slowly; it was clear there would be no rush to try and save his life. “AN INCREDIBLE VICTORY BY YOUNG ARIOCH!”
The efficient dwarf medic in the healing bay assessed Arioch with a critical eye. “Take that armor off,” he ordered, gruffly. “I need to see that chest wound.” Once Arioch’s formerly gleaming, unscratched half-plate armor was off, the dwarf would sit him down on the bed, examining his chest with an experience eye. “Nasty, but you’re young and healthy. Some stitches, and a bit of rest the next hour, and you'll be all right.” The dwarf said, frankly. “I’ll certify you for your next match – if, that is, you want to fight again tonight."
One of the arena workers was already there, dilligently cleaning the blood off Arioch's armor.

He did what the medic told him to slowly doffing his armor and accepting any help offered, he was still putting on a hard face but it was quite clear to him that he really needed to rest and regain strength, maybe get some stitches in different parts of his body. Some ointments to stop the bleeding. His heart was still racing and even though the medic was talking to him and he understood what he was telling well enough to do what he asked of him, his mind was still replaying the last moments in the arena. Those thoughts he had when he had been so close to death, that voice. The look on the Orc's face when he finally was mortally wounded and passed away with his greatsword across the chest exhaling the last of his foul breath. He was shaking, he realised then. His left hand was quivering, he only realised that when he had to stop for a moment and had nothing to use his hand on.
Soon afterwards, it was the rest of his body that was quivering slowly from the experience. He took deep breaths, trying to space them out and keep them under control. To relax his body, but it wouldn't let go of the experience. It had been intense. As intense as any sensation go. The wound on his chest was treated and he let it have some air as he rested by his armor. He nodded to the medic when he was cleared for a next fight and then just closed his eyes and tried to gather himself together.
Next fight, soon.
Eventually, his body stopped shaking and then this incredible sopor took over him, like his entire body weighed much more than it had before. It was the weight of the experience, of the intensity. He let it rest, took some time to drink water and ate calmly. Even though the roar of the crowd was still wild, and the echoes of steel clashing against steel reached his location it did not bother him at all, it did not cause the same level of anxiety. His gaze was fixed upon the bread he was bitting on, upon the small chalice with water.
Time passed, names were thrown. He didn't know the fighters, but did hear some of the names, at least some of the winner's names. And then he was informed he was next. He got ready once again, donned his armor, running one finger softly through the newest dents, through the new slit now stained with blood he couldn't quite yet remove. And pressed on. His cue was up; he walked once again into the arena, into the cold wind outside mitigated by the heat of living beings like a soft caress. He rose his sword in salute again. And this time he focused on the battle ahead right from the get go. His rage had a new focus, and he summoned willingly this time. Not out of fear, his confidence was new. Built from the ground up now, but it wasn't fragile. It was a solid base. And so it burned within him once again as he exhaled a white cloud looking for his opponent.

“Is he fighting again?” Pip’s eyes were wide as Thea returned to their seats, nearly half an hour after the end of Arioch’s fight.
“Seems so,” Thea grinned at Pip. “I guess he must have felt better than he looked!” She couldn’t quite manage to make her voice sound as confident as she’d hoped.
Pip didn’t seem bothered; she just grinned, turning back to the ring. “I knew he’d be fine! He looked really strong as he walked out, didn’t he? Who is he fighting? What are the odds?”
“A half-red dragon,” Thea sat down again, hands squeezed tightly together in her lap. “Three to one against this time. I bet it all,” she grinned at Pip. “Even the winning from last time.”
“Is all that stuff they said about him true?” Pip asked, glancing from the ring where two combatants were grappling, bloodied and thrashing about in the sand, back up to Thea. ‘About Arioch I mean. That he was a slave, that he… all that stuff?”
“I don’t think so,” Thea smiled at Pip. “But I’m not sure either. He’s a pretty mysterious guy, huh?”
“Yeah, and he always has that mask on!” Pip giggled.
“All right folks, you loved him earlier in the evening – please welcome back ARIOCH! Barbarian of the north, former slave turned fighter for the love of his life!” The audience roared out cheers. “That shiny new half-plate of his is a little more beaten up,” There was a burst of laughter, “but he’s earned it!” More cheers.
“And fighting against him tonight, we have… ZENOBO DRAGONSON!” The audience roared again. “This veteran of the arenas served in armies across Faerun before his retirement to Waterdeep… but he keeps his hand in the ring! He’s bested more newcomers than just Arioch! You can count on it, folks – this won’t be a fight you’ll forget!”
Pip immediately leapt to her feet, not bothering to wait, and cheered. “Thea, Thea – do the lightning again? Thea, please! Please!”
Thea swallowed down the fear in her throat, taking a deep breath and clenching into a tight fist inside of her. “Of course!” She grinned at Pip. “Wouldn’t want Ari to think we’d left, right?”
“PLEASE GIVE IT UP FOR… ARIOCH!”
Thea exhaled, another burst of lightning writing Arioch’s name in script above her head before dissolving into a shower of sparks. She had no idea if he would pay enough attention to see it – but just in case, she didn’t want to let him down.
“AND NOW… ZENOBO!”
The humanoid who stood across from Arioch looked like a dragon scaled down to human size, with red, scaly skin, and lizardlike features, with crowning ears rising up from the top of his head. He held a longsword in one hand, a short sword tucked in at the belt of his plate armor. What skin remained visible was covered in a mix of scars, including a particularly dramatic one that stretched over his cheek, marring whatever symmetry his features might have had in his youth.
Unlike the orc, he took the arena slowly and with a certain dignity, nodding once to Arioch, although there was something ever so slightly haughty about the gesture. Zenobo inhaled, deeply, lowering his sword into position, and – once they were both ready, he would step forward to attack.

With the ringing of a bell, the fight began.
Zenobo let out the breath he’d exhaled, gills flaring wide on his neck, and a massive cone of flame flared from his mouth, expanding as it stretched across the ten feet between him and Arioch, washing over him in full.
