The warforged rolled his eyes at the young(?) goblin. "I'm a six foot tall metal man. People think I'm weird, but who cares? This is Waterdeep". He motioned around him, to the building, the people, and the city itself. "People see weird things around here all the time. Why are you worried about it? Just be yourself". He understood how it felt to stand out. Sometimes he wished he was small and could hide, like his new friend. Other times, he was glad he was forced to confront it. It made him stronger.

“Well... I guess.” She chewed on her lip and looked at the table. Crucible was big, and if someone did something bad to him, he could retaliate or do something. If Enchee spoke back at someone, they’d probably crush her under their boot. Not that it’s stopped her from opening her silly goblin mouth and spouting out a fair few insults in her mother tongue. “I mean. Adventurers come in and when they talk I think sometimes they forget people like me are here. Why are the caves they loot always full of goblins, and orcs, and stuff? I’ve never really left the city, I don’t want to get confused for a runaway. That’s just something I think is silly, obviously there are plenty of mean elves in the forests and wandering human bandits, but yknow. That’s kinda off-topic. Why did that- oh right. Anyway. Being small and green isn’t why I’m worried. It’s that I just think that the scars look bad. I’ve seen loads of cool adventurers walk in with scars that they hide. I don’t blame them. Except the orcs, they like them.” Enchee could rattle on about people she’d seen coming back all day. When they got their cut from that guild, she’d often sneak a coin or two where she could. Beggar’s tax.

"But why would you hide your scars? Scars tlel stories. They inform who you are. Even if you aren't proud of the scar, that doesn't mean you have to be ashamed". He watched several people walk past, before turning his attention back to Enchee. "If you want to hide your scar, that's okay. But don't think you have to".

Enchee smiled, making sure to look up at his face. Her mass of hair only covered her forehead and her eye; her arms, the visible part of her face, and her legs were all on display and slashed up to a degree. There was a story that Enchee didn’t want everyone to know. “If you get scratches, can you buff them out? Like armour?” Crucible was now her favourite person, and he was really interesting, really unique. That got her excited, her eyes filling with childlike wonder as she stared up at him.

"As a matter of fact, I have some fancy magic for just that situation. Would you like to see?". He looked around for any employees before grabbing a fork and snapping it in half. He set it before Enchee, making it clear that it was well and truly broken. One hand held the holy symbol around his neck as the other hand passed over the fork. A short incantation later, and the Mending cantrip knit the metal back together. "Good as new! Or maybe even better". He winked and set the fork back where he found it.

Enchee practically stood up in her chair! She gasped, and stared at the fork. “What was that? I’ve never seen that before! I can only do this.” She focused for a second, hand dipping in her pocket, then a spectral, perhaps Mage like Hand, appeared next to her. It swooped into her pack, pulling out a deck of very odd looking cards. “Can I read your cards for you?” She seemed rather intense at this point, and she felt it. The general vibe in her head always came down to a solid, slow, grey mass when the cards came out. “I can’t guarantee accuracy. I can’t guarantee that it will make sense until after the prediction comes true, either.”

Crucible laughed at the little goblins reaction to such a simple spell. His laugh trailed off slightly when the ghostly hand appeared beside her. So she could use magic as well. That wasn't something he was fully expecting to see today. "Please, do read the cards. I would love to hear what they have to say".

Brow furrowed, she spent plenty of time shuffling the deck, putting it down and shuffling it again. After this ritualistic process, she selected three cards from the top, middle and bottom of the deck, and turned them face up. The runes on them seemed to be random etchings, but Enchee stared at them like they held the secrets of the universe. “They’re not usually so on the nose. This one means success, this one means fighting, this one means brilliancy. So either you’re gonna kill a really good looking crystal golem, which, if you do, I want a piece, or... you’re gonna smite something real good. Or maybe you find a shiny sword, but that seems unlikely.” She grinned and put them back on top of the pile, tying the ribbon. “I mean, really, what is success if not a nice tangible thing you can flash around.”

He watched intently. He ahd never had his fortune read before. He watched her shuffle, curious as to what the cards would say. He didn't know if the cards could predict the future, but why not? He just fixed a broken fork because he believed hard enough. "A crystal golem, hmm? I don't know if I'm that good, but I promise I'll share the spoils with you. Maybe you could go with me and earn some more?"

“Go... with you?” The words seemed more foreign than the idea to her. Enchee lived in Waterdeep, she was born there and she’d die there, hopefully at the ripe old age of seventy-six, with a full belly by a warm fireplace. Last time anyone left, they came back ready to be buried under a tree, stone cold and stone stiff. Leaving even the streets she was comfortable in was a big ask, could you imagine leaving the city? Ridiculous. “Why would I do that?” She laughed. It was a funny joke. Her new friend was a prankster and a magic man!

"Why not? You can explore and see the world. Go on adventures and save lives! You could be a hero". He nodded sagely at the last part. "And doesn't it sound more fun than wandering around town all day 'inspecting' coin purses?"

“That’s crazy! It’s so big and open! There’s liches! And mind flayers! And mind flayer liches!” She took a moment with her face in her hands. Looking up, she sighed. “And... from what I hear, adventurers like to wipe out goblins who are just trying to do their thing. What if I get confused? What if they don’t care? It just seems safer here.”

"If anybody tries to hurt you, I'll be right there to protect you and keep you safe". He held out one large hand, pinkie extended. "I promise. You can even keep riding on my shoulders".

“We can go together?” She smiled, trustingly. “I guess... I guess we could! Together.” Enchee’s tiny green hand stretched up to Crucible’s comparatively behemoth one. She thought it looked funny, but she felt safe as she went in for the pinkie promise.

He shook her pinkie and laughed. "I would be honored to know you're watching my back". He reached into his coin purse, setting several coins on the table to pay for the meal. "Besides, I don't think anyone would want to pick on you when I'm around".
